    Chasing pH

Good morning all. Seems like I'm constantly fighting to keep my pH in the desired 7.4-7.6 range and alk 80-120 in my 15,000 gal, pebble tech pool. You guys already know this....adding muriatic reduces pH but it also reduces the alk. Adding baking soda raises the alk but also raises my pH...

Can’t keep ph down with SWCG

Hey all. I run my aquapure around 40-50% and my cya is around 80 right now in the hot south Florida sun. Not sure if I’m doing something wrong but the ph just keeps hovering at 8 constantly. I add acid, day or two later I’m right back up there. Is this normal?

PH constantly increasing and can’t identify the reason

Hi everyone, I’ve been trying to figure out why my pools ph keeps reaching 8.0 monthly. I drop it to 7.4 every time. Here’s what I checked: 1. Salt water but salt chlorinater broken so it’s not causing ph to increase (I use liquid chlorine) 2. Plaster pool but more than two year old, and I’m...

    Help: Pool pH 8.0 equilibrium

Hey TFP forum, this is my first post. Just finishing up my first full season of owning a pool. I'm very grateful for TFP Pool School, and all the great resources. Outside some hiccups opening the pool before I knew about TFP, I've had a fantastic season with completely clear water. I test...

    CH/TA ratio

Has anyone tried controlling a 4:1 CH/TA ratio? The attached article describes how a 4:1 CH/TA aids in “containing” ph (effectively reducing ph fluctuations). https://blog.orendatech.com/the-ideal-calcium-to-alkalinity-ratio I am currently reducing my CYA (target is below 50) and should be...

    Eager to learn!

Hello all, I am a new member as of today. I live 20 miles south of Houston, Texas. I’ve recently retired after 40+ years of work. :) I’m adjusting to retirement and immersing myself in trying to get my 23 year old 16,000 gl. pool in top shape. I admit that the level of attention the pool has...

    Stenner pump questions

So the pool has been re-plastered (in my 4th week) and I want to automate the PH control/MA addition. Planning on doing the same for chlorine if it works for MA. I read a lot about these Stenner pumps, but have a hard time on deciding which type is best suited for MA addition. Any...

DIY CO2 Injection for pH Control (not CircuPool or Poolsmith)

Hello TFP :handwave:! Assuming the exploration around why pH is rising and debate between automated CO2 vs. MA to lower pH has ended with CO2 being selected, I wanted to create a WIP DIY set of materials needed since I couldn't find one that existed already. Lots of great threads on those first...

Total Alkalinity and pH in a salt pool

I recently filled a pool and have been trying all week to balance the chemistry. I make my own daily tests with a Taylor FAS-DPD kit and I confirm my test results by taking water samples to Leslie's. I have managed to get all the chemistry within recommended range except for pH and Total...

    PH & SWG Automation

Hey Everyone, *Pics at bottom for reference* Looking to eliminate having to constantly add PH and chlorine… because well, I’m lazy and tired of the weekly chemical additions 🙃 Ultimately I’d like to automate and tie in my Hayward VS pump, a SWG, and a PH control system. I have an older style...
