Test Kit Refills on Sale Now!

I’m thinking to myself … DUH!?!? I should have ordered a spare case with this one to store all my old stuff in … oh well, I’ll have to inventory all my old reagents and see what I want to keep. I have like 5 speedstirs and several Taylor tubes with beans … I’ll be keeping those for sure. Plus...

Test Kit Refills on Sale Now!

I've decided to clean out my cabinet of chemical wizardry, abandon my efforts at discovering the philosopher's stone, and letting go of my hopes of creating a homunculus in order to acquire a TF-PRO Salt kit ... plus the sleek case and custom designed foam looks pretty nifty ...

How to Upload Pictures and Create Albums in TFP

Yep, I know. Image processing and hosting is a giant PITA for the most part. Problems often come from device-specific/format issues and there’s no easy way to solve it without throwing a lot of hardware and software development at it. When you’re a for-profit company with products and...

How to Upload Pictures and Create Albums in TFP

Nice write up. I’ve been using the photo gallery since the site was updated years ago and it has improved. The biggest issue I have is that it sucks from a mobile device perspective, particularly with Apple devices. Desktop use is fine, but Apple uses its own proprietary HEIC image format...

    Pool Math........The App

This has been discussed before and while it sounds like a “reasonable” idea it’s actually a really really bad idea. The main reason is that you can never trust chemical additions to just do what you think they ought to do. You could have old liquid chlorine or measure the wrong amount or have...

    TFP 2022 Spring Contest!!

It’s not even a pool really. Looks to be about 4ft deep and maybe 10’ X 15’ … and the ladder is kind of useless … Maybe we can color in their equipment pad too … I bet they’re using a Frog chlorinator and an ozonator.

“Patient” … “helpful” … “welcoming” …. Hmmmm. Clearly our customer service training standards have slipped. There will be an immediate correction and all mods/guides will undergo intense “re-education” session - Never fear, we will be back to our grumpy, unhelpful selves shortly ….

    Pool Math........The App

In the main menu there’s an “Import/Export” feature. The bottom of that panel has an “Import Test Logs (.csv)” button. I don’t know the exact formatting but you could create a dummy pool with some fake data then export it to see how it formats the data.

I’m a little further north than you and slightly lower elevation. But even my water is in the high 60’s / low 70’s now. It has gotten colder sooner this year as last year we were still experiencing 90°F days in October. I just checked my PoolMath logs (love the Summary feature) and between...

    Pool Math........The App

2 years is the best you could hope for here. The sun absolutely destroys them. I don’t use solar covers anymore as they are a waste of money and nothing but fodder for the landfill. The only reasonable, non-carbon based heating is solar (giant infrared lasers are just too cumbersome to set up...

    Pool Math........The App

I'd say the best it could do is calculate how much energy a gas or heat pump run would use but it would only give a very rough estimate of temperature rise because there are many other factors that dictate pool water temperature that would vary greatly between pool types and ambient atmospheric...

TFP Expert Discussion - pH and Alkalinity

As an update to something that was quickly discussed at the end but not properly covered, there are ways to adjust pH without impacting TA even though I stated that the two are linked and there isn't a way to affect one without affecting the other. If one wanted to lower pH without the TA...

TFP Expert Discussion - pH and Alkalinity

You only need to calibrate a pH probe at 4.0 if you plan to use it to measure TA. The titration test for TA starts with water at normal pool pH (7 range) and then adds a strong acid dropwise until the pH reaches 4.5 . If you plan to do the test without using the green/red indicator, then you...

TFP Expert Discussion - pH and Alkalinity

Sorry of this picture is hard to see, but it shows the basics. Please note, that pH is only sensitive to free chlorine when using the phenol red indicator, pH probes are not affected by free chlorine levels. Basically, the interference in the pH test that comes from presence of chlorine is due...
