    Remodel Regrets (circulation failure)

By and large, the wind handles the vast majority of the surface stuff to the skimmer(s). I might agree with you some that the PVC returns could have been angled but without a picture, nobody can be certain. For the most part though, it shouldn't matter much. Water comes in, water goes out. As...

Hi everyone!!! I have a firepit question first.....

Without pics of what is in place, we can not offer much in the How Do I and Can departments. Pics are easy to put up. Either become a lifetime supporter or put the pix in a photobucket album and paster the 4th option, one per line, for all to see. Scott

    About to build in NJ

I find Holiday's safety ledge to be a nuisance when changing liners. Other than that, both will build a nice pool. I don't like concrete walls on a liner. They require new liner foam for every liner. I prefer steel or resin. All three last and last though. I am not a big fan of Hayward...

If your soils tend toward the acidic side, consider using resin walls instead of steel. While I realize you don't get a lot of rain, make sure the soil can absorb it, that it doesn't hit a clay deposit as clay swells and that any runoff is directed away from the home's foundation and away from...

A locally supplied system is best. Importing a kit might make it prohibitively expensive otherwise., be it from shipping costs or duty fees. Knowing what soil conditions exist below the surface helps too. Is it sandy, rocky, dry clay, etc.... all can come into play. Scott

Pressure is pressure. Go ahead and test it if you have the gear. Cracked plaster is not a good thing. Expect to need to replaster. Scott

Welcome! Looking forward to your contributions to the community. Just one request from me. When referring links to parts, try to use the manufacturer's sites. Otherwise it might appear as a self serving promo or free advertising for your employer. Scott

    First pool

When CC is . 5ppm and above, shocking is the correct solution to bring it down. Your alk is a bit higher that I like to see with a salt cell in place. Letting it settle to about 80 will make it easier to bring down when the time comes. Get a proper testing kit of your own. You already noticed...

New to Texas and new to pools

The Aqualink should set the SWCG power level to a very low, but not off condition. Depending on the size of the spa and cell, this is typically two to five percent of it's capacity for spa mode. Scott

Gel Coat issue with waxing over blue fiberglass

There should NOT be any wax on a F/G pool. We really need to see your chem levels. Scott

Gel Coat issue with waxing over blue fiberglass

What make of pool? There shouldn't be any wax, ever. If it doesn't easily wipe off and is slightly rough to the touch, it is likely to be a calcium deposit. What have you been using to test the water chems and what are the levels for FC, CC or TC, Alk, CH, and CYA for both the pool and you...

    Help

Fast is expensive. Trucked water in my area is $425 for 6500 gallons. Where would the pool pump get the water? The only other option is a hose, be it a garden hose or two or a fire hose(watch out for rusty water!). Scott

Welcome. Here, in no particular order are some answers: Above ground, also called On-Ground is not, in many towns, considered a permanent structure and while they may require a permit, may not be taxed. Wet is wet when you get in a pool, regardless. No diving with an on ground pool. Some may...

Nice of you to state what the problem was/is. It's too bad you feel you have to express such an attitude. Low speed (2 speed Tristar) enough flow for heater?

Low speed, even if it's enough when new, after the filter starts offering some additional resistance, will likely cause premature backwashing if the heater isn't satisfied. Its what most think. Low speed may not even absorb as much of the heater's ability as a somewhat higher flow. Setting the...

1500 Gallon In Ground Hot Tub

The gray plug goes in the heater header by the plumbing. If you have a Hayward In-Line chlorinator, one of your plugs will have a white deposit on the end. That is the plug for the chlorinator. Since you didn't tell use what filter you have, we can't tell you how much DE to use. Add a gallon...
