Solar cover helps with my ducks because they are mostly in it for a place to swim. It doesn't help with other birds tho. Please make sure you do ot use anything that reduces surface tension of the water if baby ducks are present. If it makes them sink they won't have the ability to fly away...

I've never pumped water out of my pool when opening it. I do pump water off the cover, but not the pool. If you're so inclined you can pump the water off the cover into the pool, but I prefer to keep the dirty cover water out of my hopefully clear pool water. I follow the steps from pool...

I'm not sure of the exact model, just that its a hayward skimmer. I saw a bike tire lever on my counter this morning and was thinking of trying that. Same general idea.

Something funky must have happened when I was vacuuming with the vac plate, and now my skimmer basket is stuck under the lip that is supposed to hold it up. ANy hints on how to get it back out without destroying it? Tips on what to use to cut it out if thats what it comes to?

You can get oil absorbing sock things at marine stores too. We used to keep them in our bilge. Not sure how the price compares to the scum balls (and no I don't mean your husband)

My mom had to have the hood of her brand new mustang replaced from hail dammage a few years ago. (soft top stuck out on the highway) That would also make me lean towards leaving it open.

I got my pool cover off and filled and checked the chemicals. My CYA is over 100... I did a dilution test and it looks like its pretty close to 200. I hate how subjective the test is, but it'll have to do. I actually checked it earlier in the year but the water was cold and I did it inside...

It looks like Ocean State Joblot got their pool chemicals in this week. 1 gallon of 12.5% liquid pool shock for 2.99. The sign also pointed out that a box of 4 is 11.96.:rolleyes:

No idea how old it is. It shows up on the google satellite picture, but that is less then a year old. Other then the roof fabric falling apart its in very good shape and still really solid.

One of those came with my house. The canopy was pretty shot, so I bought a new one. They did not have it attached to the ground, and it gets picked up and moved around the deck in high winds.

If you pay for the home warranty make sure you understand exactly what is covered and how the repairs will happen. When I was looking into that it seemed like they wouldn't cover anything that was at the end of its useful life. So if things are old, they may not be covered.
