I think I've joined the calcium nodule gang. Noticed a few of these after the pool light was switched on at night at the bottom of the gunite pool. The pool was replastered in 2011, and the pool was emptied in March 2018 for remodel work of the deck . I guess that played a factor.

I only put the black plug in when using the pool vacuum. Is this correct? Otherwise it is removed when using the pump with vacuum removed. When I direct the pump valve to main drain, there is one at the bottom of the pool the pump makes a high pitched noise and the water level falls in the pump...

Do think that the reason one of my five jets that does not work could be because the previous owner installed a water fall? Also, do you think I should remove the white plugs that I have in each skimmer?

Thanks for your response appreciated. When I turn that valve in front of the pump it makes the pump noisier and also the water in the pump basket starts to go down, I got scared so I turned it back - does this mean anything? Sorry for sounding dumb, with the vacuum removed ( the grey snake )...
