Make sure you add the DE extremely slowly. A little at a time. I added to quickly and the pressure rose 25% within a few hours - I backwashed etc. realized that I was really just backwashing mostly the DE.

This morning: The good news is the pool looks almost like it did prior to all these leaves. FC is 22.5. So no drop overnight from the 3 gallons I put in. I really have no idea... Put the robot in and added some DE..

Just checked FC. It’s down to 5. It was 9-10 about 7 hours ago. Something is going on as it has been very stable FC wise last 3 weeks. The only change that I know of is the leaves falling. I lowered PH to 7.2 and brought back up to SLAM level for overnight.

Robot has been in daily. I’m using the smaller filters it Came with. I don’t get much. Standard very small debri.

It’s a 500 lb sand filter. Returns are pointed toward the surface.

I generally would have no problem turning the filter off but as my birch tree keeps shedding leaves m (skimmer baskets getting a bit full every 2-3 hours) not sure if It’s a good idea to not have the pump skimming right now

Yes. I’ve done the DE exercise numerous times. Several weeks ago, I did it few days back to back actually. Adding DE to raise 1 psi, then monitoring - would last 4 hours or so until 25% increase then I would backwash. Then I would repeat exercise. I’ve done this numerous times.

Thanks to a tip from Marty, I removed the light. There was algae in the niche. Also on the light (attached). Hopefully this will help my clarity issue.

I just measured it twice. It’s closer to 35 but I rounded up to be more conservative.

I use a clear workout shaker cup ... it has the OZs listed so very easy to measure.

SLAM continues. day 6. Definite improvement on overall conditions. Only thing that still puzzles me a bit is that I’ve only had to backwash once (day 3). Gauge was reading resting psi until day 3 afternoon when all of a sudden I checked it and it was 10-15% stage and returns were moving slow...

Yikes. That’s crazy and not good! I may just wait and use Memorial Day weekend as a target date to use it then..gives me plenty of time to SLAM it and stabilize. Not worth $22 a day!

SLAM continues - water is slowly clearing. Algae appears normal - no noticeable solids anymore. Brushing with the pool results in a fine, green dust. But there’s still quite a bit of it :). I was holding off on throwing the robot in...it would help stir things up, but perhaps not yet... too...
