    CYA Recommendation for SWG?

Follow the chart. My CYA is at 60, the lower end of the SWG range, which works fine for me. You’re even further north so probably that would be ok for you too. Your SWG setting is whatever keeps your FC level always within the recommended range - people will probably do calculations for you...

SWG Aqual Trol - Not generating chlorine

This. You can’t do much about this until you have a reliable test kit. And the dealer’s instructions are likely to be unhelpful. Read the pool school pages here, especially the ones on testing, chlorine/CYA levels and algae.

SWG Aqual Trol - Not generating chlorine

I had the same issue this spring on opening, first time ever, and I’ve had two pools with an SWG. It took more than a week of SLAMming with liquid chlorine to get it to hold chlorine levels, so it was clearly fighting algae that wasn’t really visible. I know it was generating chlorine because I...

Ladies and gentlemen can I use this for my SWG?

Yes, but it's less than 8 bags, they're usually 40 pounds each. As other posters have suggested, start shy of what's suggested, wait, test, and add more if needed. Easy to add more, harder to drain to get rid of it.

IC40 shuts down - then "comm link error"

OK, I figured this out. It was user error. Thanks for all the help. Pool service company that opened the pool dumped way too much baking soda in the pool on opening so I’ve been lowering pH and aerating with the bubblers on the sun shelf to reduce the TA. That setting, “water feature” - I...

IC40 shuts down - then "comm link error"

I opened up the front panel but couldn't tell what I was supposed to be looking at. Do I have to remove the top part with the display and buttons?

IC40 shuts down - then "comm link error"

It currently says "AUTO" and "POOL" but the cell is still working at the moment, I did a soft reset on the EasyTouch about an hour ago.

IC40 shuts down - then "comm link error"

I have a 2 year old pool with Pentair EasyTouch automation and an Intellichlor IC40 SWG. On opening the SWG will stay on for a while when the system starts up in the morning, or the Easytouch is reset, or I shut off then turn on the main pool breaker. All the lights subsequently go off. The...

    IC40 - I guess it'll last forever

Definitely flashing, and set at 2% in screenlogic. Today it's at 4.5. I guess I'll see how low it drops and then raise the setting slowly. The coincidence of the number makes me wonder whether I forgot to halve the drop number when testing yesterday, but I had gone to the drop test when the...

    IC40 - I guess it'll last forever

Interesting, 1650 RPM for me is about 26 GPM.

    IC40 - I guess it'll last forever

Not other than there seemed to be no reason not to - I've never run 24/7 in a pool before but I never had a variable speed pump before.

    IC40 - I guess it'll last forever

When I was specifying equipment I took the advice to upsize the SWG. So I upsized to an IC40. I currently have output set at 2% and the Intelliflo is set at 1650 RPM, which is the minimum to keep the SWG from throwing a flow error. My free chlorine is still at 9. I have the pump running...

IC40 - indicator lights don't match EasyTouch settings

It's fine. I'm an idiot. I only thought I was controlling the pump speed from the panel - someone must have set fixed pump speed 1 at 2500 and that just happens to be what I picked on the panel. I reverted it to 750. For whatever reason this time when I pressed the buttons on the SWG they...

IC40 - indicator lights don't match EasyTouch settings

Lights aren't flashing. Indicators are solid green. If I try to change the output with the buttons on the unit they flash a couple of times then go back to solid green. It's been in service mode since it's installed and the cell is clearly on and working.

IC40 - indicator lights don't match EasyTouch settings

Hi, all. My pool is sloooowwwly getting finished. One issue is that my newly independent pool guys understand construction and wiring but don't really understand EasyTouch programming, so nothing automatic is set yet and it's still on Service mode and ScreenLogic is still off. They supposedly...

Aquapure 1400 - new sensor, adapter board, salt reading low

Re: Aquapure 1400 - new sensor, adapter board, salt reading I don't think BJ's will provide that much better assurance against scale - I've had scaling on the ledge in my deep end the last three or so years. I talked to them about it last winter when they were closing, and they were more...

Aquapure 1400 - new sensor, adapter board, salt reading low

Re: Aquapure 1400 - new sensor, adapter board, salt reading Thanks. Maybe I'll try it without, see if it impacts the salinity reading. The sensor reading has crept up over the past week - seems to have stabilized at 2.9-2.9, while subsequent goes at the Taylor test have read 3800-4000, so...

Aquapure 1400 - new sensor, adapter board, salt reading low

Re: Aquapure 1400 - new sensor, adapter board, salt reading I take care it myself during the season. For opening and closing and repairs I can't handle myself, I use BJ Pool & Spa in Fairfax. I like them best of the folks I've tried locally - not perfect but show up on time and are good at...

Aquapure 1400 - new sensor, adapter board, salt reading low

Re: Aquapure 1400 - new sensor, adapter board, salt reading Thanks. I guess that's my question - doesn't it decide whether or not to shut down based on readings from the sensor, which only shows 2.6? Am I going to have to add salt next spring to fool the sensor into thinking it has enough...

Aquapure 1400 - new sensor, adapter board, salt reading low

Re: Aquapure 1400 - new sensor, adapter board, salt reading OK, now I am really confused. The Taylor test kit came in the mail. Contrary to other opinions, I didn't find it hard to use - the change from yellow to salmon is very clear and precise. Unfortunately it's telling me that my salt...

Aquapure 1400 - new sensor, adapter board, salt reading low

Re: Aquapure 1400 - new sensor, adapter board, salt reading Thanks. I have no idea whether the installers re-calibrated it when the pool was built. I'll post when I get some new salinity numbers from the test. I also re-built my Polaris 380 yesterday, so I am a little sick of pool stuff...

Aquapure 1400 - new sensor, adapter board, salt reading low

Re: Aquapure 1400 - new sensor, adapter board, salt reading The strips are from last season, and I have known them to go bad before the expiration date previously, so I have ordered a Taylor K-1766 salinity test. That still wouldn't explain the significant difference in salinity readings...

Aquapure 1400 - new sensor, adapter board, salt reading low

Re: Aquqpure 1400 - new sensor, adapter board, salt reading Jumper was not required to be removed according to the firmware number. Yes, I waited 4 minutes before holding down the button on the adapter board to calibrate. Yes, I held the button down until the flow light came back on, about 25...

Aquapure 1400 - new sensor, adapter board, salt reading low

I have an old style Aquapure 1400, with the square cell and the threaded sensor. It started giving the sensor error codes so I replaced the sensor. The unit is an old style with the removable plastic cover and, apparently, the AKC 13 board attached to the front cover. The tri-sensor adapter...

I've also had rocks in name brand solar salt, mostly Morton's, not so much the Diamond Crystal.

    Salt left over after winter?

Agreed, unlikely. Mine was at 2100 in the mid-Atlantic when I opened a month or so ago. I would get some new, fresh test strips and double check if the reading doesn't settle down.

Trouble with salt readings - strips vs. SWG

What local pool store? :P (The closest one to me is at probably 10 miles away, in DC area traffic ...)
