I bought the same unit for my 13K gallon pool in October of 2020, and love it so far. Perfect size like Marty said; I've never had to run it more than 6 hours/day at 50%. You will need to determine how to power it on/off like Marty said also.

This was pretty much the approach I ended up using. I pumped a inch or so out, fill it back up (either with the garden hose or the rain we've been getting) then rinsed and repeat. Pulled out the K-1766 this morning and I'm down to 3400. Thanks everyone.

Thanks James. I have an el cheap Harbor Freight submersible pump that I believe is 1/6HP (bought years ago and no markings on the pump). HF's website has current 1/6HP pumps that claim a maximum of 1600 GPH but I really doubt my pump pulls nearly that much.

What Mark said above. I'd add half of what you need, then test when your test kit arrives. Then add half of the reminder, and so on. Remember also we just got a ton of rain (in Valley terms), so take that extra volume into consideration if appropriate.

Sounds like a good plan to me. Then you will want to ensure that your SWG is maintaining your FC; this entails knowing your daily FC consumption and the run time/% needed to accommodate that. Did you ever find out why your FC dropped in the first place?

I see bubbles from my returns, but only when my pump is running on low speed (1725 rpm). At high speed (3450 rpm) I don't see them. I'm betting you won't need to SLAM. You might just need to get the FC up quickly with LC and let the SWG take over again.

Ok well your numbers look good, although I might bump up your CYA to 70 or 80 especially in the summer. Do as Marty suggested in post #3 and let us know.

What's your CYA level? Any visible signs of algae?

Another vote for the Circupool RJ+. I would go with the 60 in your case, just so you're not taxing it during the warm sunny months. I've only owned mine since October but love it so far. I converted it from 240V to 120V so it would work with my timer. You have to be a little handy with PVC...

I was wondering the same thing. When my SWG runs during my pump's low speed, I see bubbles coming from the returns. Later in the day, when the pump is running at high speed, I do not see bubbles. Is this normal and OK?
