I'd like to clean stains off my vinyl liner

So, I guess it will work underwater then? I happen to have two of those Mr. Clean pads on hand, so I'll give it a try and see how it goes.

I'd like to clean stains off my vinyl liner

Thank you for these ideas. Would Mr. Clean work while submerged under water, and will it adversely affect my water chemistry?

I'd like to clean stains off my vinyl liner

Hello, my above ground pool has a regular vinyl surface, and over the last couple of years, it's developed a fair amount of faint green stains from past algae attacks. They're faint and not all that noticeable, but it would be nice to clean the stains off to get the vinyl the same color blue...

Hanging a rectangular Intex Ultra Frame Pool directly from the pool deck

Beautiful looking pool so far, and it must have taken a lot of effort. I hope it does hold. Edit: Sorry, I read what I thought was the last post of the thread, but I see a lot of other posts succeed it, which I've not read, so I don't yet know how accurate my statement is.

    My freezing pool story

Being in Austin, I was advised I don't need to unhook my equipment, but simply run the pump when it gets below freezing. Unfortunately I can't seem to find an app that will notify me when it gets below freezing, and yesterday, even though it was 70 degrees out, and I had shorts and T-shirt on...

    Leaf eater cord getting fragile

Great suggestion. I happened to have an old shoe lace, and it did the trick. (My jury rigged job failed as the original cord broke again, so I had to expedite the shoe lace mission.)

    Leaf eater cord getting fragile

I have a leaf eater, similar to this picture: The cord that holds the bag to the base has become fragile and just broke. I jury-rigged it with a knot, but I can't put too much tension, or it will break again. Does anybody know if the cord is sold separately anywhere? Everything else...

water level question for above ground pool before covering the pool

Okay; but is it okay for me to leave the water level high like it is?

water level question for above ground pool before covering the pool

I don't think my cover is permiable water-wise, so I think once I cover it, rain won't get in. Last winter I did disconnect my equipment, but based on advice on another thread here, my plan this winter is leave everything hooked up, because of how far south Austin is. I also received advice...

water level question for above ground pool before covering the pool

Hello, I'm about to remove the leaves from my pool, and check the chemical levels before putting my pool cover on it for the winter. Right now, the water level is very close to the top of the skimmer hole, because of all the rain we've had. Is it advised that I should lower this level before...

Hanging a rectangular Intex Ultra Frame Pool directly from the pool deck

It sounds like he's done a lot of scientific analysis of the forces involved, so it's going to take somebody with more expertise than I to say he's going in the wrong direction. I'm thinking that even if his design runs contrary to the one proven by the manufacturer as being tried and true...

Leak in return jet inlet fitting

Well, since I couldn't find an unthreaded inlet fitting, I went ahead with my earlier plan, and I replace the threaded PVC adapter with a new one, and screwed it into my new threaded jet inlet fitting. (And I described above, I had to replace an elbow joint and a union, because there were all...

Hanging a rectangular Intex Ultra Frame Pool directly from the pool deck

So you're going to have some kind of gravel and cement under the pool? I'm just curious why not the usual leveling of the ground, and putting a layer of sand, which I assume would be a lot less expensive. I think I remember you mentioning something about draining... does the ground there...

Leak in return jet inlet fitting

Well I'd love it if I could find an unthreaded jet inlet fitting, but my search for it has failed, so I guess I'll keep seeing if I can find a way to make these threads watertight.

18 Foot Pool with Deck (Photos)

That's what I wanted to do, but my HOA requires decks to be at ground level. So my deck is about the same as yours, but at ground level, with wooden stair steps leading up to the pool edge.

Leak in return jet inlet fitting

I'm afraid I don't know what NPT vs straight threads mean, but the reason I'm dealing with threaded is because the jet inlet fitting is threaded. But you bring up something I hadn't considered: do they make a non threaded jet inlet fitting for my pool that I could glue my PVC to? That could...

Leak in return jet inlet fitting

The leaking got worse, and now it's about 4 drips a second. Since I was running out of ideas, I decided to test the theory that the PVC threaded adapter is somehow faulty, so today I bought a new one. Since my union, elbow joint, and threaded adapter all so close together, with no space to...

QUESTION about countersinking above ground 2 ft

My first AGP, a 12' x 24' with A frames was sunk 2 feet in the ground, with a wooden deck entirely surrounding it on all sides, so that no earth was piled against the pool. The pump and filter were under that deck, and I had a little door I used to crawl through (from the side, at ground...

Leak in return jet inlet fitting

I guess that's what you'd call the part. It looks pretty much like this picture: It's been a slow drip since last fall (but only when the pump runs), and now there's a rust stain on the outside wall below it (a vertical path down the wall). So I decided to try to fix this slow drip. At...

Covering an AG Pool in Austin

Re: covering above ground pool for winter. Well, I did some googling around, and I saw one website recommend that that water be consistently below 65 degrees to prevent algae growth before winterizing. I also read that the purpose of the pool pillow is to absorb expansion if the water freezes...

Covering an AG Pool in Austin

Split from covering above ground pool for winter. I also have a question about this. I live in Austin, TX where it sometimes freezes, but it never really seems to stay below freezing for long extended periods of time. So I probably don't need to unhook my equipment, but some people do unhook...

ladder mat won't stay under ladder

Hello, I recently replaced my stair steps that I used to have for entry into my above ground pool, with a cheap plastic deck ladder. It came with an optional small rectangular vinyl mat, but I read that people recommended that mat as extra protection for the pool liner, so that the ladder...

    New Pool - Deck Build

I have an urge to run/sprint across your new deck, and leap into the pool. :p - - - Updated - - - By the way, back in the mid-90's I hired a guy to build a deck around my above-ground pool, and unlike yours, he ran the deck boards just underneath the edges of the wall caps, whereas in your...

Thinking of new pool, ground preparation questions

Well, I just received approval from the HOA to have the pool built, but with the proviso that if I build any decking, it must be at the ground level, and not up at the 52 inch level. I'm not sure what I think of that. Actually, I never intended to build a deck up there for groups of people...

Thinking of new pool, ground preparation questions

Out of curiosity, would liquid chlorine be manually applied, or is there an automatic way to have it slowly released into the pool over the course of a week? By the way, I'm still waiting for my HOA to approve my request for an AGP.

Thinking of new pool, ground preparation questions

The automatic chlorinater is a vertical tube that you fill with chlorine tablets. The pump diverts a bit of the water flow through it so it dissolves the tablets into the pool water. I think typically you can get 1" or 3" tablets.

Thinking of new pool, ground preparation questions

Well actually, my wife suggested I go visit the pool store that I bought an above ground pool from 18 years ago (2 houses ago). The same two partners that own and run the store are still there, and they showed me a pool they thought I'd like, and they also offer a service of doing all the...

Thinking of new pool, ground preparation questions

Hello, last August I sold my house that had an inground pool, and moved to a new house that has no pool. The community pool is just four houses away, so I don't feel like forking out for another pool, but my wife for some reason won't swim in public, and so we agreed to a compromise of building...
