Thru-Wall Skimmer Basket on Intex Easy Set Pool

On an easy set pool installing a sidewall skimmer will cost you at least 6" of depth, the ring doesn't hold up the walls so much as adds depth. I have had easy sets in the past and they will hold water up to the top of the sidewall without the ring being inflated.

Is our pool sloping too much?

Intex pools have that square tile liner pattern on them, if your water is level with the liner pattern the pool will be level. Sunken paver, I used ceramic tiles as shims when I re leveled my Intex a few years ago, tiles come in 1/8", 1/4", 1/2" and 3/4", they will not rot out and put you in the...

    AG insulfloor opinions

It works out to roughly 225 pounds per square foot weight on the bottom of the pool, which is why base prep is very important. The weight on the individual uprights is less as the bottom of the pool rests on solid ground, the uprights hold the sidewalls upright, the pool is not suspended on the...

    AG insulfloor opinions

Hello neighbour Surface prep is key to setting up an agp, dig the high side down to the level of the lowest side. With mine I also dished it out in the middle for added depth. After I had the base as level as I could get it I added a base of sand 2-3" deep, I should have bought some 1" Styrofoam...

    Before I pull the trigger...?

Search the forums for Intex XTR frame pools, last year there was a "bad rash" of rust issues with these pools. Myself I am on the eight year with my regular round tube Intex, using an SWG. I did some looking around and Wal-mart still sells my pool as I expect I will replace it within the next...

Need help choosing a pump+saltwater system

Intex does actually make a pretty good salt cell, the controller you can toss at the checkout counter AFAIK I have an old 8000 series Intex salt cell that is over 6 years old and still produces CL, the controllers are long gone on both units I ran the cells off of a 12 V battery charger with...

    Questions before I buy

Ground prep is the key to Temporary Aboveground Pools. 16 x 48 is a nice size, price over manufacturer on low end TAGP's. If you get hooked oversize your upgrade equipment...I started with a 12 x 30 intex bubble top now I use the same 24" sand filter on my larger pool, pumps come and go, solar...

Through Wall Skimmer for Intex Ultra Frame

I would use silicone, remove skimmer apply around the face, inside and out then re install the skimmer. Put a gob of silicone about half inch long and 1/4" deep on a piece of cardboard, when you can press on the gob without it sticking to your finger start refilling the pool.

Was it an Ultra frame, I run salt on mine for the last 6 years and have minimal rust.

Intex Prism vs Ultra Frame differences/opinions?

I have a prism frame, that is the old style Intex with round poles. Mine has been up for 6 years now showing a touch of rust at 6 tee welds, longest less then an inch. Read a lot about rusted out Intex Ultra frame pools this year, which is probably why Intex upgraded to the XTR coating on newer...

    AGP Depth - 54" vs 48"

They don't recommend dishing a stock Intex liner more then 9", if I remember rightly.

    AGP Depth - 54" vs 48"

I dished out mine 8-9 inches in the center, 6' tall water hits just below my armpits. Kids jump, if I had a dollar for every time I yelled don't jump off the ladder, I would have paid for a fancy cement pond by now. The wife asked me if we could have a deck, I told her we have enough trouble...

Main drain and Through Wall Skimmer for Intex Ultra Frame

I did a lot of reading on main drains when I set up my Intex. Most people aren't doing main drains anymore mainly because of expensive repairs later on down the road. I can siphon most of the water out of my pool if need be, but only drain it down 1 foot for winter.

How do you get ladder to stay?

I was worried about no fresh water circulation when I got mine, also once the water gets in how the heck do you move the thing out so... I drilled 2 x 5/8" holes in the inside "wings" bottom I drilled a 1/4" hole in the underside of each step near the corners Duct taped a piece of 1/4" foam to...

Through Wall Skimmer for Intex Ultra Frame

I put one into my regular Intex pool a few years back. The top ended up flush with bottom of top seam. I split the gasket on mine. If your screws are too long, pull one out and make it shorter, hacksaw/file works. Go slow until you figure out the right length, then repeat. The inner flange must...

Which ladder for soft sided/intex style pool?

I use 2 pieces of 3/8" nylon rope to tie the ladder to the tee's. My goal is to get the ladder pulled back to the top rail, and real snug to prevent side to side movement, works well as I remove my ladder before covering with our solar blanket everyday.

    AG Pool Cover

What I do is: Put old solar cover under winter cover for floatation. When ice stops forming on the winter cover, I scoops out as much junk as I can, then roll off the winter cover. Lots of junk heads into the pool, which is why I spent good $'s on a sand filter. Wash winter cover and old solar...

Replacing Intex Ultra Frame 18x48 with XTR 18x52, any way to run pump hoses to a pump house?

I ran mine underground to the pool/pumphouse. Installed with grade towards pumphouse with drains for winterization. If there was a little bit of water in the pump while it was running, maybe you got lucky and didn't burn out the pump seal.

Ways to prevent pvc pipes from bursting, which are above ground under deck-solar pipes?

When I installed my piping I made sure it all graded to one point, I dug a "well" (rock and gravel filled hole) to help with fall drain down. In the fall I open the drains, then one by one I blow out my systems, both low point drain and high point air addition point stay open until spring.

Intex Ultra XTR Pool - thoughts?

One thing I just thought of, my pool was the last year of round legs/top rails. The year after they went to the "Ultra" design which is an oval tube, which probably allows them to get the same strength with less metal.. Correction Walmart still sells my pool...
