    Pool Store Testing

I did purchase a copper strip test, it showed 0.0 copper. I assume it is at least as accurate as the pool store. :laughblue:

    Pool Store Testing

The only other thing we have had is massive rains in the area, which raised the pool water up to the lip of the pool. I had to pump it down.

    Pool Store Testing

No green finger nails, and my blonde daughter is still blonde. There is a stain in the deep end though, that seems like it set in over winter.

    Pool Store Testing

Thank you. Upon research and checking with our pool guy (I edited above), they added in Copper algaecide - which he said is standard. I forgot to tell him not to add anything like I have in years past. They usually want to close by adding something as well, but I tell them I already added...

    Pool Store Testing

Thanks. This spring after opening about 3 weeks ago we have added: - Tap water to get back up to level after opening. - Liquid chlorine -- maybe 12 gallons or so, since I didn't have the salt system on until just the other day. - Conditioner, since the CYA was low after the winter. - My wife...

    Pool Store Testing

OK, I guess I didn't give much thought about the report when I saw that PH was 8.7, Salt is 2500, Stabilizer is 29. I figured if those are wrong, I would guess Copper is wrong too. Any advice?

    Pool Store Testing

My pool has been open for 3 weeks here in PA. I tested last night and all my numbers were perfect using Taylor. For fun, I knew I’d be passing the pool store today and had them test the water, along with their recommendations. Results attached.

    Taylor or e- salt meter

For what it’s worth, my salt tester always matches my SWG within 50 ppm. That could change though as the SWG needs to be cleaned.

    Taylor or e- salt meter

For me, I rely on the salt meter. I was using Taylor and it kept telling me to add salt. Come to find out, mine was close to expiration and was inaccurate. I bought a 3000 ppm salt solution sample and calibrate my salt tester against that. My Taylor read that water at 2200.

Salt Test - Which is Correct?

I didn't test the 3000 ppm calibration water with the K-1666 yet. I will do that here in a bit. EDIT: The Taylor test shows 2400 on a 3000 baseline sample. Expiration on bottle says 6/20. I'm guessing it is just old. I'm going with the 3900-4000 as the number.

Salt Test - Which is Correct?

Hi there, I have a few salt tests that I have tried and have gotten conflicting results. - Taylor K-1666. 3200 - AquaRite. 4000 (this instant a test, but what the unit says after I cleaned the cell with muriatic acid, and recalibrated) - eSeason 3050. 3950 (just bought this on...

SWCG Test Results - Any Tweaks?

I think I’m done messing with it. ? Seriously though, I love this forum. Everyone is so helpful. As a first time pool owner with a black / green / 4 year closed up pool, you guys have been there helping all along. I think after the first year, I can say it’s been a success. We cleaned up the...

SWCG Test Results - Any Tweaks?

Attached my latest pool math. After converting to SWCG and doing a SLAM, I seem to be pretty stable. I’m an over analyzed by nature, so always looking to improve. Seems like PH is a little high, TA a little low, etc. Any thoughts on my results? Or if it ain’t broke don’t fix it? Being that...

First time testing with new TF-100, Total Chlorine high?

Listen to him. :-) I had the same issues, but didn’t check and read here first. I let my FCL get to low. Then, my SWG couldn’t keep up. I had to SLAM to get things back to normal. Now, I plan to maintain on the high side of the FCL chart for my CYA.

    CYA - Keeps Decreasing

Thanks. That’s pretty much what I ended up concluding on the other thread as well.

    CYA - Keeps Decreasing

Forgetting the CYA going from 150 to 90 to 50. That's just confusing the issue. When I installed the SWG, my CYA was at 70. I was having issues. Did a SLAM for over a week. FC up to close to 30. CYA was down to 60. Added liquid to get to 75. It raised to 68. Checked again. Down to...

    CYA Decreased After SLAM

I have a similar experience I posted in a thread recently. I was around 70, dropped to 50, added liquid, added granules, was up to 70, back down to 60. All in a couple weeks. Perhaps the accuracy of the test isn't that good anyways and I shouldn't worry about it.

    CYA - Keeps Decreasing

I use both. Mostly the TF now. The CYA tests are from both and confirmed with pool store. All say the same 60, 62 and 63 respectively.

    CYA - Keeps Decreasing

Yep, I hear you. Hence my questions. I’m not promoting BioActive. I just know my CYA has reduced from almost 150 down to 50 without draining my pool. I read all the posts here and am confused as anyone There has been no sun the last two days as well. You mentioned starting from scratch...

    CYA - Keeps Decreasing

All summer, my CYA climbed and climbed. I had to add more and more pucks. The vicious cycle continued. CYA was 150 and I had enough. I converted to SWG two months ago. While doing so, it was the middle of summer and my kids were in the pool all the time. I didn’t want to drain. I tried the...

    TF-100 CYA Test

Any tips for the TF-100 CYA test? I tried the TF-100 and estimated 60. Tried my ColorQ and it told me 63. I wanted to get to 75 CYA, so I added some liquid stabilizer. I used Pool Math and tested the next day. The ColorQ told me 80. I thought I added less, but it will come down with...

    ColorQ Refills

Good to know. I may give it a shot and simply return if the dates aren’t good. I didn’t realize this earlier. I may also wait until the spring as our season is winding down.

    ColorQ Refills

Got it. I wasn’t sure if you could buy direct because their site is so old! I was looking at my reagents and they are all out of date. I did not know to check this when I bought my kit in the spring.

    ColorQ Refills

Good morning. Does anyone have a good source for purchasing ColorQ reagent refills? I usually go with Amazon, but lots of reviews about the product being out of date.

    Testing Comparisons - TF-100 vs. Color Q

Yes, the FC is also lower on the ColorQ. The ColorQ vials were all purchased in April I would think they aren't expired yet, but I don't recall where I bought it online. It very well could be.

    Testing Comparisons - TF-100 vs. Color Q

Great insight. I agree with you on the ColorQ ease of use. Fill the vial, blank it, 5 drops, test, next vial, repeat. Extremely quick and easy. In my testing though, my ColorQ is always too low. Your method wouldn't work for me. So in this case it read 95 vs. 275 for the TF-100. My pool...

    Testing Comparisons - TF-100 vs. Color Q

When we bought the house and I researched pool testing, I assumed a digital readout and color chromatic test would be more accurate. The TF-100 sort of reminds me of all those chemistry labs I absolutely hated with a passion in college, except this is fun. :)
