    Scumbug Turned Yellow?

I suppose there might have been a higher than normal oil content in the water I replaced........

    Scumbug Turned Yellow?

I put another new scumbug in--just to see. It also turned yellow... I could see that potentially being a rust-ish color, but I don't see any rust anywhere in the tub, and the filter is still white.

    Scumbug Turned Yellow?

No, filter is still nice and white. I meant to put that in the original. So it's either something specific to the material in the scum bug, or it's something that was on the surface?

    Scumbug Turned Yellow?

I put a new scumbug in recently after a partial water swap and filter change, and it turned yellow. The only chemicals I've put in since the water swap (about 100 gallons on a 400ish gallon hot tub) have been dichlor and muriatic acid. Anybody ever hear of something like this? I only swapped...

    Water Replacement Interval WITH Ozonator

I've seen this formula for water replacement interval (WRI) in some old posts multiple times by chem geek: WRI (days) = (2/9) x (Spa Size in Gallons) / (person-hours per day) Each time he says this is for the dichlor-then-bleach method with NO ozonator. I never see where he or anyone else says...

Self made hot tub almost done!

Ok. So your original problem was that you're getting this "flow" error code, and we still haven't verified that you're getting the right flow at the heater. The vacuum gauge is jumping all over the place in the second video. In the first video, it's basically pulling no vacuum at all as far as I...

Self made hot tub almost done!

I'd assume there is no issue with the pump wiring since you're priming and have water flow. If you had an issue, it pretty much wouldn't run. HOWEVER, since you have those two relief valves, it'd be pretty easy to put some pressure gauges on either side of the pump. Then, you can take those...

New Spa Question or Observation - TA and PH

That's a good point. I always forget that an imperial gallon is even a thing. Either way, the company is based out of TN, and I'm from TN, and I'm pretty 99% positive nobody in Tennessee uses an imperial gallon... That being said, I'm going to get a fill meter for my hose and just measure it...

Self made hot tub almost done!

It looks like your main pump is primed from the video. I don't think it's a suction side issue. However, if you have something that is restricting flow on the return side (any closed or partially closed valves, if you used any piping that was too small in diameter for some reason, if you have a...

New Spa Question or Observation - TA and PH

I always measure first before adding anything (unless I just hopped out of the tub--then I just add a few ounces and measure again the next day). I've been wondering since I have Borates in there as a buffer if I should consider lowering my TA any farther, but I've seen people saying multiple...

New Spa Question or Observation - TA and PH

I recently moved to Houston, and I bought a hot tub a couple of weeks ago for these cold winters and mild summers :p Anyway, I've had two other houses with two different pools, and have used the TFP method without a hitch. So far, everything is going fine with my spa (water is clear as can be)...
