CYA and FC levels in new pool water

It's a Pebble Tec. I seem to remember similar markings the last time I drained the pool, only they were primarily along the walls. They did end up going away eventually, but I honestly don't remember if I did anything specific to treat them or if they just went away on their own.

CYA and FC levels in new pool water

Quick follow up question in case anyone sees this -- I have a pretty large light brown stain on the bottom of the pool where the last of the old pool water ponded when I was draining. It's been over a week now and it's still there, and doesn't seem to be lightening. Should I be concerned about...

CYA and FC levels in new pool water

I haven't tested the CH. When I drained the pool a couple years back, the CH was very high. I posted about it and was told that because the water here (Phoenix) is bad, that the CH is always going to be off, and to not really worry too much because there isn't a lot I can do about it anyway...

CYA and FC levels in new pool water

Excellent. Thanks for the help everyone. I've been keeping the PH around 7.5, and the TA is around 140. I've been continuously running the aerator and that's dropped TA a bit. CYA is still on the low side, right around 20, but the water in the test tube is starting to get cloudy, so I'll...

CYA and FC levels in new pool water

CYA Target is 40. The pump has been running non-stop since yesterday morning around 8, so nearly 24 hours. I don't know the water temp actually. The thermometer was on the chlorine float, which has been removed from the pool and thrown away. I'll pick up another thermometer today. And I have...

CYA and FC levels in new pool water

I drained and refilled the pool this past weekend. Our CYA levels were sky high and maintaining the pool over the past year was a nightmare, so it needed to be done. Wanted to do it earlier in the year, but just couldn't get around to it until now. Anyway, we are drained and refilled with new...

Refilling pool tomorrow and need some advice re: chemicals/additives

Sweet. Thanks everyone. I went through the first treatment of 16oz stabilizer, but my levels are still below 20. However, when the viewing tube was completely full, I could not see the dot at the bottom anymore, so we are making progress.

Refilling pool tomorrow and need some advice re: chemicals/additives

Ok, here we go: FC: 1 CC: 0 CYA: less than 20 (could still see the black dot until the tube was overflowing) TA: 140 CH: 450ppm Ph: 7.8 Next steps (?): Get CYA above 30. Lower Ph to 7.2. Get FC to 12. Question about my CH level. Is that high? What is my "Goal" level for the Pool Math calc?

Refilling pool tomorrow and need some advice re: chemicals/additives

My TF-100 doesn't get here until late this week or early next, so I won't be able to begin SLAM until then, correct? Assuming the only testing material I have is the cheap drop kit from the pool store, what is the minimum I could/should do to the pool once it's filled to hold me over until I...

The only number on the jug is 163331339C. That it?

Refilling pool tomorrow and need some advice re: chemicals/additives

Right, so I don't know what the date code should look like but there were two numbers on one of the boxes (I have two boxes with two gallons in each one) that weren't SKUs. They are: 20128HDX (Printed on the bottom of the box), and 16333 13:40 (printed on the side). And it looks like you...

Refilling pool tomorrow and need some advice re: chemicals/additives

We were quite the attraction yesterday. At one point, we had 11 of the neighborhood kids in our tiny backyard while I was (literally) in the deep end scrubbing the walls. Being the fun neighbor that I am, I put them to work immediately. :) My major stressor this morning was the lines on the...

Refilling pool tomorrow and need some advice re: chemicals/additives

Thanks for the replies everyone! Still confused, but at least I feel like I've got the resources (and people) I need to do this the right way. Ok, I bit the bullet and bought the TF-100 from Pool Supply World. Should be here by the 7th. And before I start filling, I've got some stains on...

Refilling pool tomorrow and need some advice re: chemicals/additives

Our pool became more swamp and less pool this fall, so I went ahead and drained it today. Tomorrow first thing I'll start to refill it. I've seen half a dozen recommendations on what chemicals to add and when to add them when refilling the pool. It's overwhelming. Am I SLAMing the thing...
