Help Winterizing Plaster Spa Floor Lines

Yes. If you put the plug in while the air is blowing, the same as you would for returns that are below the water line, you should be in good shape. I'm not an expert, so you can wait to hear tips from them, but since they haven't weighed in on this thread so far, I'm pretty confident that that's...

Help Winterizing Plaster Spa Floor Lines

The job is mostly done. Considering how few posts there are about floor drains in spas, I'll mention that I did some research and ended up emptying the spa by using the pump to transfer the water to the pool. This let me blow out the floor drains with the compressor I bought today, add...

Help Winterizing Plaster Spa Floor Lines

I can't find any posts about winterizing lines in a plaster spa floor. I've got 4 lines coming from the floor-- two to supply the jet pumps and two to the main pump. If you don't drain the spa, do you stand in the water to remove the grills and then blow/plug the lines? Or do you always remove...

Close Pool Now or SLAM and Wait

Decided to slam, run the filter, and wait a few days before closing. Nice windy day here, so I'm doing some net and robot work to keep up! My CH was way low at 90, so I ordered the remedy and will add tomorrow. I'll have to check to see if CH readings are impacted by slamming... Thanks again...

Close Pool Now or SLAM and Wait

I just happened to be reading that PH readings won't be accurate when slamming...

Close Pool Now or SLAM and Wait

Dang, I love this forum. Someone's here to help, even in November. Thanks so much for the help TS! So if I went with bumping up the FC, what's the highest level I can safely elevate it to before putting the cover on? And I'll check the PH again. My Calcium Hardness was way off. Is that an...

Close Pool Now or SLAM and Wait

Well, a few weeks ago I thought I was closing my pool, and so I slammed it (FC up to 35), got all the levels in check and thought I was ready to go. Then life got in the way, couldn't get my helper, and paid attention to other deadlines. So I found myself in November with a pool full of leaves...

    Winterizing with High CYA

So I guess winterizing will have to wait. The leaves are starting to fall fast!

    Winterizing with High CYA

Thanks for the responses! When I asked: "Second, if I do that and bring the level to 35, how long do I need to wait before winterizing?" I was referring to my FC level, not the CYA. In the article I read on TFP, it said: "Two or three days before closing, I bring the pool up to shock...

    Winterizing with High CYA

I tested for CYA .... maybe about a month ago, and it was low, so I added the recommended amount. Just tested it again now, and the level is 90-100. (Don't know why that happened, but that's not the point of this thread.) I'm getting ready to winterize, and Poolmath says I need to add 11...

Thread size of Pentair IntellifloXF VS pool pump plug?

Oops. I meant through the pump. I had read that the drain plug would allow enough air in to clear the lines. However, after reading the link you sent, I've put together some hoses that work with my big shop vac. So I'm going to do it via the skimmer port as that seems easier. Once I'm getting...

Thread size of Pentair IntellifloXF VS pool pump plug?

I'm going to give winterizing the pool a shot this year. I'm planning on hooking up a compressor to the drain plug outlet on my pool filter. I've been searching around for the size of that plug outlet, but have yet to find it. Anybody have a clue? It's a Pentair IntellifloXF VS. I would take...

Closing Pool but keep Attached spa open

I guess it would be heated, and if it ran continuously wouldn't freeze. It would be pretty costly though, eh? I had an uncle who grew oranges in Florida many years ago. During one of the freezes that destroyed a lot of the orange crop, he said his was saved to his running the irrigation system...

Closing Pool but keep Attached spa open

I recently briefly considered the possibility of using the spa over the winter too, but then realized that doing so would require having water in the pump, filter and lines--which of course wouldn't work over the winter. Your weather is a bit warmer than ours on Long Island, but wouldn't the...
