Water squirting out of sand filter

So this isn't probably good, right? There is a little stream of water squirting out of my Triton II sand filter when running on high speed. It's coming out of the fiberglass, not from the top? Does this call for a total replacement or is there a repair solution for this?

    How to remove slide valve

I have a Pentair Triton II with a side mount slide valve. This thing is overdue for a cleaning since it gets stuck all the time. I unscrewed the nut but cannot pull out the shaft. I've released the pressure in the system but still stuck. Any tips?

Can I do this for a backwash

I'll look into the idea of a vac hose instead. I did have concerns already over the bw hose kinking up and tearing over time. I really need ~80ft to reach the furthest areas of the grass so I could connect a few smaller ones. Could you point in the right direction of the product I would need...

Can I do this for a backwash

Thanks. I've thought long and hard if flooding my grass with the salt water pool would be ok. My grass is watered to about 7-9" every 2 to 3 days, so like you mentioned, I feel that it would be ok since it will be diluted pretty quickly. - - - Updated - - - Yup, that looks perfect, i'll...

Can I do this for a backwash

Thanks. A backwash hose it is. I already have a 50 foot backwash hose but need another 50 to reach all parts of the grass. Do you think I’m able to link another 50 foot hose together or do I need to get a complete 100 foot hose? I’m trying to think of what fitting would be needed to link them.

Can I do this for a backwash

I would like to water my grass when I backwash, as opposed to what I've been doing for years (the street). I have a 1-1/2" pipe coming out of my filter. Would I be able to get that pvc to attach to a garden hose and water the grass that way? Or is backwashing through a garden hose not the...

    Connecting backwash hose to pump

Do I need any special adapter at the end of my 1.5" pipe coming from the pool filter to attach to a standard backwash hose with a clamp? Or is the clamp enough to keep the hose attached?

    Fla Weir Rubber Stopper Install

anyone have an idea? I'm sure many have had to install this rubber stopper in their skimmer, it's a Pentair skimmer if that matters

    Fla Weir Rubber Stopper Install

I had to get a new rubber stopper for my weir door. I installed one a few years ago but cannot remember how I got this thing to fit. I've tried greasing it up with pool lube and pushing it into the hole but no luck. Any advice...

    backwash setup

Do I need to add a 90 degree elbow to my backwash pipe before attaching my hose to the cut backwash pipe? Or can a hose run directly off that cut pipe and make it's own 90 degree turn without getting kinked up?

When to turn on pump after refill

I am currently refilling my pool. Can I turn my pump back on if I shut off the skimmer and leave only the main drain on for circulation?

    Diverter Replacement Project

Thanks, the grey coupling is schedule 80 per the Lowe's description. I couldn't find a regular 2.5" coupling anywhere so I chose that. I ended up plumbing the rest, connect the Intellichlor flow to the valve. Since the cleaning system side was complete, I just shut off the valve to the water...

    Diverter Replacement Project

I hit a snag. Tried to do a union to help put two pieces together and I'm short on off the side a bit. Any easy fixes before I try cutting lower on this pipe and add another coupling. Even then, I'm bit unsure of how I'll actually get them cut just right :-/

    Diverter Replacement Project

I tried the reciprocating saw on cutting the existing pipe today.... yeah too much vibration for me to do. I easily cut it with a hacksaw so I'll be just using that going forward. I just need to figure out how to get a straighter cut

    Diverter Replacement Project

The original pipes are painted, matching my pentair sand filter and pump. Just out of curiosity, is this any special kind of paint? Perhaps made for pvc.. or UV protection? I wouldn't mind making everything match again once I get all the piece put together.

    Diverter Replacement Project

I couldn't find that 2.5 x 2 slip reducer anywhere, I ended up just reordering the correct valve so now I just need to get the 2.5 pipe somewhere

    Diverter Replacement Project

And apparently 2.5" PVC is hard to get. So far I only see it in expensive long pieces. I only need a small amount.

So I purchased the correct valve today. http://a.co/0i4PHjv Looks like my pool will be over a week off by the time I get this.

    Diverter Replacement Project

Dang you are right, I didn't catch that. Can I still swap out for the Pentair 263037 3-Way PVC 1-1/2 inch (2 inch slip outside) (http://a.co/6NHbG87)? I obviously have to adjust for that size adjustment on the cleaning side because you are right about that pipe probably being 2-1/2" vs the...

    Diverter Replacement Project

The repair on the water feature side actually will be easier than I thought. I forgot that I actually remove the flapper in the two way valve because having the flapper in there caused my water feature to retain water after it was off. So really I can cut this out altogether and not worry about...

    Diverter Replacement Project

Funny you should say that. I actually took the general contractor for my backyard (Who subcontracted out the pool build) to the registrar of contractors and won a settlement because of everything that was jacked up including the pool build.

    Diverter Replacement Project

Here’s a few pics from further away and on the other side. I do plan on re-plumbing the entire side that feeds from the Intellichlor since I have the unions from my recent Intellichlor purchase. Also pay no attention to that crappy backwash set up. I will be redoing it soon also

    Diverter Replacement Project

I want to add unions to help in the future. Do I have the ability to add them on my cleaning side? As you can see, I don't have much room and the elbow goes straight on the diverter so if I add a union, I'm guessing my Cleaning pipe would have to angle out a bit give some extra space for the...

    Diverter Replacement Project

Thanks, I went ahead and purchased a Dewalt reciprocating saw on amazon also. I've long needed a saw so I bit the bullet with some holiday gift cards. Some of these connecting pipes that I'll have to cut might be like 3 or 4" in long. What's the best way to cut them with a hand saw. Should...

    Diverter Replacement Project

Thanks, I actually just ordered the Pentair unit that you linked to just before reading your message. And it's a good idea with the union fittings. I have those on my Intellichlor, which I just replaced and it's an easy plug and play situation. For cutting so many pipes, is something...
