How to remove slide valve

I have a Pentair Triton II with a side mount slide valve. This thing is overdue for a cleaning since it gets stuck all the time. I unscrewed the nut but cannot pull out the shaft. I've released the pressure in the system but still stuck. Any tips?

It should come out with one good pull. My guess is one of the o-rings that goes over those disks is all bound up on the inside. Try squishing some pool lube on the rings and move the handle up and down to work it out. Those valves need to be cleaned and lubed annually to keep them in good working order.
