New build in Highland Village HELP

Highland Village? Nice. We used to live in the Mound. We have Pentair, automation, and saltwater. I wouldn't have it any other way. Our deck & coping is travertine. I know it is common to use Oklahoma Flagstone and other similar rocks in TX. once you start side cutting stones, some of them are...

    Advice needed

Are the travertine pavers free layed (crush base, for example) or are they on the slab? Crush base in MS is going to move eventually and the deck level is going to be off. I think it's critical to get to a uniform level but I'm not sure what application is going to be best. For what you pay in...

Re: South Florida Pool & Outdoor Living - STARTUP PHASE I found a nickel on the ground last night so I'll throw in two cents. :o I disagree with Bdavis466 on the premise of "preferred". I think a large number of spillover pools are being designed as "always on" or "mostly on"...

Re: South Florida Pool & Outdoor Living - STARTUP PHASE Pool looks awesome. On the tests, use acid today (early) to drop ph to 7.4. This will offset aeration for a few days (this will be a weekly battle with your spillover & bubblers, but well worth it). Increase CYA to 70-80 now and try...

Re: South Florida Pool & Outdoor Living - DECK PHASE Brian - #GoNoles My apologies for missing most of your build but it is coming along quite nicely. We lost half of our house in Hurricane Matthew and have been displaced since Oct. 5th - hopefully back and fully rebuilt in March. I love the...

    Pentair Screenlogic2 and Easy Touch

Sunplay $400 - pull the cables to the attic, plug into interface, run cat 6 to router. There's a few "how"s to consider, but pretty painless if you're the DIY type.

Florida New Build - Pool, Spa, Fireplace

Not to shill, but TravertineMart was fantastic. The delivery was really good; the driver forked it to exactly where I asked on the side yard to assist the masons. I'm as happy with them as anyone in our build. The spa is raised about 12" above the patio height and 18" above the water line.

The travertine is looking great at nearly 2 years in. 1.25" bullnose for the coping. Orange and blue? Geez... there's no accounting for taste, I guess. :D

Rico Rock...pricing??? Alternatives??? ( too much time to re-think design!)

The prices in N. FL. are a different kettle of fish than other markets, especially S. FL. and TX. I suggest you get a quote from you PB first for the cast crete install. Depending on the size of the grotto, you're likely looking at $8K and up in this market. (Best guess, YMMV)

Re: New Build - South Florida Pool & Outdoor Living Looks great!! I like the final choices. For your volume, I don't know if it is necessary to increase to IC60. Why two skimmers? For this size, I would just do one and not worry to balance the system. I second the comment about adding a blower for the spa.

Re: New Build - South Florida Pool & Outdoor Living I believe the blower was my doing, so I'll jump in. Our blower is a 1hp with a silencer located at the pad. The pic is below. Certainly looks like pool equip, but not an eyesore. With the silencer it runs at 55db. My HVAC runs at 77, so...

Will these plaster colors overheat my south Florida pool?

For real-world experience, I would say these colors will not impact your pool temp because there are so many other variables to account for. At best, it's negligible. My advice: get what your wife loves.

    Sanity check of pool specification

Your pool length/width is very similar to ours and we have the 3'6" to 6'6" depth. It's just about right for everyone... kiddo, grandma and us. I wouldn't sweat the depth too much, with the understanding that once it's poured, it's done.
