    New build in central Texas

Just some specs on the pool. #4 grade 60 rebar on a 12" grid. Double mat on all walls tied and overlapping at least 18" into floor mat. Spa walls capped with "U" bars all around. There will be some on the pool walls, but the engineer says I don't need them. I just have some left over...

It is an OB pool and it was modeled in SolidWorks.

Btw..... I spent 4 hours today helping him just to get it almost done. He was having problems staying off my pipes and leaving the tops level on the spa.

Rebar is almost done. I hope to start plumbing this weekend. Woo hoo. Only problem is that now I am busy. Very busy. So this will suck more than it would have if he finished two months ago when I had more time.

I had that problem for a while and never completely figured it out. I think it was my basket lid. When I really tightened it the bubbles went away.

    Gunite/shotcrete subs?

None of those will travel that far. Maybe for specific clients or mega builds.

    Gunite/shotcrete subs?

I was contemplating San Antonio or Waco. Houston seams like it would be expensive for a travel fee.

He has done quite a bit of tying, but not everywhere and he has a lot of finish up to do.

Rebar question. Shouldn't the double mats around the spa and walls be connected? I know he is still not done, but I wanted to know. Thanks

More slow progress. Still missing some rebar in places.

Some more updates. The rebar guy has been very slow. I have asked him to update a bunch of issues. Hopefully he is done this week.

Looks good. Just in time for the heat!

More work. We are having issues caused by the excavator. Some of the benches will have to be oversized. I might slope the walls a little there to make the recliners. What do you think? Also, the Gunite guy will have to add some of the sweeps in and smooth out the rough dig shapes...

I think you can also wait and eventually it will expose.

I will have a dedicated feature pump, but I have tons of features, so I don't want to have to dedicate the pump to one feature. My plumbing diagram is earlier in this thread.

    New build in central Texas

Ok, I have a problem to solve. The tanning ledge is too deep. I was going to have 3 bubblers but I am afraid they will not work right if they are deep. I don't feel like putting a ton of extra gunnite in across the entire area, so I was thinking about doing just a sloped area to cut the...

I had the form guy square up my scupper bowl bases while he was there. One had either been bumped or was never square. The rebar guy claims to be heading out there tomorrow to finish. I think it will take me a couple weeks to prepare for gunnite after that.

I plumbed my low voltage to go under my outdoor kitchen. I am having second thoughts on that. But we will see.

    New build in central Texas

I decided to have the forms enlarged to provide an 18" wall. That will waste some gunnite, but I will ha e a better wall to sit on and I have plenty of clearance to the plumbing and rebar. The rebar guy promised to work Saturday and finish today. No show both days. I will have him move...

Is that to the top of the bond beam or coping? I assume bond beam due to the 3" water level. Just verifying. Also, I am 6'1" and my wife is 5'1"..... if that has any bearing on recommendations.

So, I bought a spa loop that was pre fabricated (assembly required) that claimed to fit a 8' spa with a 12" beam. I had the form guy make the forms to a 10' diameter. I centered my single mega drain in the middle so I would have a bulls eye. The form is about 200 degrees of a circle...

I have been there before. My first pool I did a lot of the work myself and it took forever before I finished. Almost 2 years after gunnite before I was ready for plaster. But that was budget driven too. I hate to rub salt in your wounds..... but you also should wait after you add water...

Any suggestions on height for the two different bench levels? We are setting them in rebar today.
