I just let the PB do his thing with the basic latch to pass inspection and I added a padlock on the inside of the gate.

    SF Bay Area build (done!!!)

I had my SWG set at 50% for 8 hours a day with the cover on and the FC still crept up about 4ppm in two weeks. I have to let mine drift down and lower the percentage a tad. Just have to play around with it to see where the FC will maintain itself. Good luck!

    SF Bay Area New Pool

Interesting! Same exact thing happened to our build. The city said our kitchen and fire pit were not on the approved plans. It was only on the “reference” plan that was not approved and stamped reference only. Except ours is fully completed before they called it out on our final inspection...

Cover Pools Automatic Pool Covers Experience/Reviews?

Yeah, there is drainage in the box, but I still see standing water in there. Maybe the angles of the drainage doesn't quite get all the water out. I should fill the vault with some water to see how high it might get just in case.

Cover Pools Automatic Pool Covers Experience/Reviews?

It looks to be a nice pool cover. All the parts seem like they are good quality. However, after finding out which brand I got and started searching the web, it sounds like many people are not happy with it.

Cover Pools Automatic Pool Covers Experience/Reviews?

Got it, I will flip through the manual to familiarize myself with what they suggest. I can imagine what kind of critters will live in that trench. Even before the cover went in, I could already see webs being formed in there. Does your cover pull a bit of water in there, and it becomes standing...

Cover Pools Automatic Pool Covers Experience/Reviews?

Thanks! I will look into that. I've been noticing my PB is not quite the electrical guru he should be. I have fixed a number of his mistakes.

Cover Pools Automatic Pool Covers Experience/Reviews?

Thanks for the feedback Monty! So far, the the cover looks great and is functioning as intended. What kind of preventative maintenance have you done with the cover itself to keep it in good shape? All my equipment is Jandy as well. I definitely like the automation so far. One thing that I am...

Running equipment 24/7 for two weeks?

In my area, there is a tiered pricing structure. Tier 1 and 2 is fairly normal. I hit the 3rd tier which had overage use surcharge. That surcharge was a 3rd of my bill and that alone was more than what my bill normally would be.

Running equipment 24/7 for two weeks?

That's what I'm guessing as well. Now that my water is all balanced, SWG is running, and pool cover being installed today, I will no longer have to run the pumps to circulate the water. The single speed is only on for 30 min a day and will probably turn that off completely and only turn it on...

Running equipment 24/7 for two weeks?

Got my first electric bill today after starting up my pool and running my pumps 24/7 for 2-3 weeks. I ran the VS pump on low most of the time, but my water feature pump is a single speed and that ran continuously for a good 2 weeks. My bill was triple!!! Yikes!!! I really need to fine tune my...

Cover Pools Automatic Pool Covers Experience/Reviews?

Curious to know if anyone on here is using the Cover Pools automatic pool cover? My automatic pool cover is finally going in and I did not know who the manufacturer was until today. Looking them up on the web, it doesn't sound like they are getting very good reviews on customer service and...

I dumped some bleach in mine when I saw some mosquito larvae and that seem to kill them off for a week, then repeat as needed.

Keep that FC up, apparently my guy did not even keep the minimum FC for very long. Maybe hit it once and the rest has been WAY below. Now its up to me to fix it. Technically, he started on 8/19 so he should be on the hook. I will be sure to have a talk with my PB about this one. Not a happy...

    SF Bay Area build (done!!!)

He probably did not put in enough chemicals to keep it balanced and sanitized. He did not add chlorine until maybe 2 weeks into the water being filled. I asked why and he said the chlorine isn’t good for the new plaster. I did not know and assumed he knew what he was talking about since he is...

Keep tabs on your 30 day start up guy and what he puts in. My guy caused me to SLAM my pool. Just started the process today.

It’s a direct replacement. No modification needed. The only thing that was added and recommended by the manufacturer is adding a check valve after my heater and before the SWG. I did the swap myself but the PB wired it up to the control panel. This change was done before my build was finished...

You will be able to swap out the Fusion Mineral with the Fusion Soft and it will be a direct replacement without any plumbing modifications. You can just omit the mineral cartridge and only run the SWG. This is what I did on my set up when my PB put in the Fusion Mineral system.

Running equipment 24/7 for two weeks?

Hmmm... never realized that many people run their pumps 24/7 ongoing. That doesn't diminish the life of the pump? Or, are these pumps built so well that they are considered a "commercial" pump and made to last this kind of runtime? For example, a pressure washer you would buy for home use is...

    SF Bay Area build (done!!!)

Not sure, the 30 day start up guy put in all the chemicals. But it did not seem like he put that much in. I checked the water frequently and the water was pretty stable throughout the 30 days. Only thing that was being consumed quite rapidly was the FC.

    SF Bay Area build (done!!!)

It's always interesting on different pool builders and chemical guys opinions. I was told not to put any chlorine in during the plaster curing. Chlorine wasn't put in until maybe 2 weeks into the water being filled. The only reason the chemical guy put in chlorine was because the water just...

Your pool looks amazing! The waterfall is going to be your stress reliever after a long day. There’s nothing better than to sit in the backyard, next to the pool, with all the lights and waterfall, and a nice cold beer. ?cheers!

Wow, that looks great! Our pool only took 15 hours to fill with two hoses running. I was expecting it to take a lot longer. You are on the home stretch! Good luck with the start up.

I feel your pain. It's like pulling teeth sometimes to get answers or momentum to move forward. It took forever for my PB to finally shoot the plaster in. But when the plaster is finally done, and the water is in, you will feel much better. Hope they get on it soon!

Sitting around waiting for work to be done is no bueno. We would go weeks at a time with no work. My project started April 3rd and we are finally nearing completion. Total days actual work was done in the last 5 months was 36 days of work. Hope you have better luck than I did.

Yup, SJ needs you to be 5ft away from any property line. I had to move my pool over by 2ft, losing deck space around the fire pit. Ended up making the fire pit long and narrow 2ft x 8ft instead of the orignal 3ft x 5ft that was in the plans to make up some of the loss.

    Shape of pool advise

We went with a rectangle for a cleaner modern look as well as being able to utilize the autocover. Our sun shelf is the same dimensions as our spa, so technically, our pool is still a perfect rectangle for short laps. Also, the spa is flush with the pool, so when covered up, its still a perfect...
