Looks like a decent equipment loadout. I'd want some more details on the exact pump and filter they're planning on installing; we'd recommend a 2-speed pump at least, if not a variable speed. Do you have any plans for a cleaner? Are you sure you need automation, rather than just a manual timer?

Yeah, I think pavers are the answer. At least that's what I would do.

A picture would help... I'm thinking pavers on top of your existing deck may be the best answer, to bring the existing surface up to be flush with the coping.

Going from memory here...I'm pretty sure I put some 4" lag screws (2 of them?) up through the base into the post. Then some smaller screws up into the brackets, and then horizontally through the brackets into the post. I countersunk the screws then patched over them...which makes it look real...

I think the tile looks good...I struggle to see anything in the grouted photos you posted, and that's looking closer than any guest ever would!

If the tiles are coming off, the thinset was applied improperly or was the wrong type. Grout doesn't do anything except look nice!
