    Chlorine or salt pool?

Most comparisons I do have the SWG we selected produce 1000 jugs worth of FC. It seems to usually land between 994 and 1005 for most people. Would you like to *not* lug or dose 1000 gallons, one at a time ? Would you like to save half of the cost of those first $1000 gallons and then 4X...

    Pool opening 2024

We seen some 'stuff' together. It took the village to win Monte over but he's all in on TFP now.

    Pool opening 2024

No idea. @PoolStored might know, he has a sand filter. One of your connections is missing an O-ring. Do you have a pump to get the cover water ? Once it's mostly gone you can make a sack out of the tarp to get the remaining water all in one spot with enough to pump more.

    Pool opening 2024

Great thanks. :) Happens to everyone with long off seasons, especially the first one after finding TFP. Yup. Cover off, then fill. Yup. Get the system running once the water is high enough and vacuum. Give it some time to settle and vac again. It often takes a couple tries to get it...

    Pool opening 2024

Monte !!!!!! I have been legit waiting for your return. Welcome BACK !!! It may be ugly under the cover. It's been unusually warm this year and it's gifted many people who opened late swamps. Rest assured, we got you. No matter how bad it may be. :) *fingers crossed its...

I have no idea what I'm doing!!

We can't say with unreliable data. Swimmer to swimmer transmissions are mostly minimized in a residential pool. The most common issue is swimmers rash which while uncomfortable, and may need a Dr's visit, likely won't cause any serious harm Only you can decide what you're comfortable...

I have no idea what I'm doing!!

Hey annaaa and Welcome !!! To properly sanitize your pool, you need to know the CYA level to a 10. Those guess strips just aren't going to cut it. Have a read : Here's how you dose, and you'll see why the CYA values on the strips are problematic, *if* it was even right.

That too. But everything is yellow for us right now so there's guaranteed pollen and *possibly* algae for some. Without brushing, the drains won't suck anything up off the floor either way, so only favor them when brushing.

Second year opening, Small bit of guidance needed

More skimming action will stop more of it from getting to the floor. 🤷‍♂️ But while you're brushing, switch to 100% drains. (When there's heavy floor debris). They don't have much pull though so you'll have to get the cloud right over them. You can control it surprisingly well going...

Have you ever seen a pool this bad?

You're in the homestretch. WELL done !!!!

Hired new company for opening and I was not aware they don't vacuum, etc.

It should. It may clog quickly again if algae is brewing. A fair possibility with a late opening. You will have your test kit and the TFP army by your side though, so you got this.

Inground pool with liner not opened for 12 years 😳

Hey Taykil and Welcome!!!!! I need to get a good seat up front next to Tivo and V. *saves one for @kimkats*

    New Pool Setup

The Ph test is invalid at 10+ FC so test before you dose back to 10(ish). Look at the chart above. Specifically all the room above target level to SLAM, which is safe for swimmers and equipment thanks to the CYA. No look at the little room between low target and minimum. Play...

    New Pool Setup

It changes as the season warms up, then warms back down. It may have already changed for you because Texas. :ROFLMAO: The key is to take your recent loss, and cover that *plus* a reasonable amount of wiggle room, to remain free and clear away from minimum FC at the low point in your...

Second year opening, Small bit of guidance needed

Mostly off. A little flow is beneficial. (y) Ok then it doesn't affect anything besides skimming. The crud in the water is already good and sunk. Turn them on 50/50 for better water movement on the surface.

Second year opening, Small bit of guidance needed

Are they equal returns or is one for something else like a pressure side vac ? Looking at your previous pics I also want to make sure you have the suction side at 90% skimmers and 10% drains. (Or there abouts). The SLAM process doesn't care either way but more skimming will help the...

Second year opening, Small bit of guidance needed

Our entire yards are yellow right now. The wind changes direction on a whim and basically blows 360 degrees of crud into that giant hole / crud vacuum you have sitting there. It's might be funky for a week or three, even with 24/7 pump operation, on top of the SLAM. Keep the FC elevated...

    Pool Drain question

I'm not saying it won't work. I'm saying it's more of the same weak suction of the robot. :) Polymeric sand may be somewhat stuck to the floor and may require some extra oomph.

    Pool Drain question

The main drains have surprisingly little pull. You'll have to sweep it directly over them while they're on, and take several attempts at it, or vac it out manually. Robots are convenient and great and all. But nothing beats the old skool manual vac.

Second year opening, Small bit of guidance needed

At least once a day. Do your best to maintain a pattern and you'll get it all after a few tries.

We got you. :) Yay for the liquid chlorine fix. You're still showing one hundred thirty five thousand gallons. Needs to be thirteen thousand five hundred. Click the # up top and drop a 0. Then go to settings and do the same so it stays that way

Hired new company for opening and I was not aware they don't vacuum, etc.

Robots aren't made for heavy cleanups IMO. They sure try though. Your choice if you'd like to run many cycles, or pay for a 1 and done. Or purchase a manual vac setup and DIY.

You did 135000 gallons, needs to be thousands, not hundred thousands. . Then go to 'sanitizer type' and select liquid chlorine. Currently it's set for SWG. :)

Something is way off. Go back to the main page and click the settings gear in the upper right corner and make sure your gallons is right. *edit. I reverse engineered it. Your pool is 154,000 gallons in your settings. Fix that, then click on the FC tab for the FC dose. Slam for 60...

Yup. Baking soda for TA. (13 lbs for under $10 at Costco/ Sam's/ BJ's...... a lifetime supply for most of us) 20 mule Borax for PH. (Laundry aisle anywhere that has one. $6 for 4lbs or so)
  27. N

Second year opening, Small bit of guidance needed

Ok. Then we SLAM. Yup. Do TA first then see if Ph creeped up any. It's not uncommon to be considerably lower than the 6.8 it looks in the spring. Dose 6.8 to 7.2 (after TA). Mix well and test again. Repeat 6.8 to 7.2 doses / confirmation tests as needed
  28. N

Second year opening, Small bit of guidance needed

Is there visible algae ? If it's spotless you can get some FC in there and to see if the is needed. Obviously if you have visible issues, then skip the OCLT. Prepare for SLAM by getting the TA and PH in line. (60+ / 7.2). Salt is a good thing to fiddle with late SLAM if needed...

Featured New Pool owner and sick of pool shop advise!

Yup. As long as it goes good and pink, you're golden. If not you need a skootch more powder, or FC added *pronto* (situation depending)

    Thanks TFP

I speak for most of us that we didn't forget how bad it sucked before TFP. And the costs. Oh my sweet lucky stars the COSTS !!! So we show up every day (or when we can) so that it sucks less for others. :)
