Black Spots (algae?) - need help

We had the liner installed last season :-( The clean line in the pics? That is where one piece of the liner overlaps with the other, I think. Cory

Black Spots (algae?) - need help

If it isn't black algae - what do you think it is and how do I get rid of it? re: copper - a quick search makes it seem like the only way to remove it is by draining? Cory

Black Spots (algae?) - need help

Should I drop FC below 10 and test to make sure I haven't completely screwed up the pH? Haven't tested CC - will have to check when I get home tonight. Cory

Black Spots (algae?) - need help

I've got a 17,000 in ground vinyl pool. Around May I noticed a few black spots (looked like streaks) in the pool - I thought the pool cleaner drug something around that stained the pool. When I checked my water, my ph was really high (probably close to 8). I added muratic acid to lower ph and...

    Motor working, pump not pumping

I found the time yesterday and was able to get the impeller, seal and gaskets replaced. Running great now. Thanks to everyone for their help. Now to slam and get it clear again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Motor working, pump not pumping

And those would be helpful if the impeller wasn't broken off. I can't seem to find a video on how to remove the broken piece of the impeller that is still attached to the motor shaft. ??

    Motor working, pump not pumping

Thank you!! Motor is working great. How do I remove the broken part of the impeller attached to the motor? Again - I greatly appreciate the help. Cory

    Motor working, pump not pumping

Thanks. I finally got around to it today. Looks like the impeller has sheared off. Hopefully you can see it in these pics. What's my next step? Cory Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Motor working, pump not pumping

I thought hp was an attribute of the motor. Please forgive my ignorance if I am wrong. Will I be able to keep the motor and replace just the pump? There is a lot I don't understand about this. [emoji53] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Motor working, pump not pumping

So next step is? Take the pump off and see? Would that most likely mean getting a new pump? Any recommendations on a model that will work? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Motor working, pump not pumping

It is a 1.5 hp AO Smith. Water is in the basket (I filled it with a hose). Gave it a 30 seconds or so to see if it would prime and it didn't. When I stated above that I ran it with the cover off, I was referring to the cover on that basket. I was seeing no movement of the water in the basket...

    Motor working, pump not pumping

I've got a Century Centurion motor (B849) that is working fine, but I'm not getting and water movement. I've checked the impeller by taking a screwdriver and making sure it will spin freely, and it does. I've made sure there is a good seal on the o-ring (using silicone) and there is. I've got...

Newbie with cloudy pool - Test results are here

Mine wasn't a green swamp either, just cloudy and a little green and it took me somewhere between a week and 10 days to complete the SLAM. Somewhere between 2 and 4 days into it my wife was saying maybe we should hire a pool service because it wasn't getting any clearer. I explained the...

    Transforming the green swamp

Drained pool to 6" and then refilled and then CYA was 30-40. If you haven't added any CYA then you aren't kidding you had a pre-drain CYA level that was off the charts! Welcome!

    Blue/Green Cloudy Pool

If your stabilizer (CYA) is really that high then you will probably need to drain and refill a good part of your pool. However - I would wait until you get your own test results to confirm it is really that high. Welcome - you are in the right place - everyone here will really help you out. I...

    First vacation with pool

I found my FC loss was greater the higher it was above my recommended level for my CYA. I don't remember the exact numbers, but the sun ate through much more of it (ppm) when I was closer to SLAM levels than when it is closer to recommended levels. Cory

Ladder - is this supposed to come off? I briefly looked at it last night and couldn't figure out how. Scrubbed around it as best I could. Lights - don't have any Return Housings - are you saying where the water comes back into the pool? Thanks!

    First Post/First Test

Well we dropped 5 FC overnight (went from 23.5 to 18.5) so we have a way to go. Also CC was around the 1 mark this morning. My wife did the pool brushing yesterday - she must have done a better job than me and stirred up some stuff that needed to be killed? We shall continue with the SLAM. I...

    First Post/First Test

OK, I seemed to have passed the OCLT last night. 25 FC at 8:30ish PM and 25 at 7:00 AM with 0 CC. I want to pass two nights in a row so I added a jug of 8.25 before heading to work - should have put me around 29 FC. I just got home and tested and FC was at 17 (still 0 CC). I know sun will...

    First Post/First Test

I tested last night at 9:30 and got FC=25, this morning it was 26. I think the lesson to be learned is not to test in the dark by the outdoor spotlight ;). I went ahead and put a gallon in this morning to get FC above 24 as the sun started to hit it. FC was at 20-21 an hour ago so I added...
