    in the absence of a decent test kit, and therefore no way of finding out the shock level, would you just leave it as is? It is already going green. Sorry for my ignorance.

    im afraid we don't have a good test kit. just a simple ph and cl tester. Not much use. Just about to order a good one though, although that doesn't help much!!

    Debris under return jet

    OK, I rekcon this is a pretty stupid question but... ...debris left in a pile at one of my return jets would indicate that the filter isn't working right, no? Or am I being a bit naive? We got the pool guys in to see what was happening as it has just started piling up the flies and leaves etc...

    My husband and I have just got a new place with a pool and I am having a few problems. I have read and read but just wanted to ask a few things.... 1. Our pool return jets are above the surface of the pool. If I wanted them to be under, the level of the water would be way above half way up...
