Something blew a hole in my pool light fixture

No, no GFCI that I can find on the circuit. I probably need to add one when I replace the light fixture. See, already the project scope expands!? Thanks for your help!

Something blew a hole in my pool light fixture

Yah, yah, I knew that just had to put it out to the universe for the easier, softer way. So is that piece by the hole the thermal protector, you think? Why are light fixtures so gol’dang expensive! Now I haft a figure out what niche I have, no labels or markings.

Something blew a hole in my pool light fixture

This is the first time I have removed the fixture, changed the bulb.I replaced the incandescent bulb in this light fixture following direction on a video for this exact fixture. Unfortunately, the video did not mention testing before reinstalling. My bad, should have done more research. Anyway...

SLAM question and general algae question

Hi, I believe pH is unreliable during a slam, i.e. pH test with high FC is not a valid result. Therefore you would not add anything to adjust it during the slam. “Got up this morning and checked it. It was down to 10ppm which was around 8 hours later at 5am. Got home and test 12 hours later...

TFP ROCKS! Recovered from major swamp thing in 2016.

When I uncovered my pool in 2016, this is what drove me to TFP. Everyone said now way, I had to drain. I spent a gaziliion hours here, totally did not want to drain, doggedly followed TFP plan, ( except for the chlorox I used, I swear I never saw the no chlorox thing until this year) I must of...

    Do I need to replaster?

?... sounds good. What is money? Yeah, and I am usually one who wants to do a job correctly the first time, but the money is the issue. I don’t really care how it looks, doesn’t bother me, just want the water right. What if I did a half drain , power wash what I can, and refill, then another...

Extraordinarily high FC and CYA trouble testing

Water delivery in ALBUQUERQUE is $550 per truck, 4100 gallons per truck, they recommend 4 trucks, soooo,$2200 plus tax. Called the guy at the pool store for grins, on the phone said $375 to drain (via my pump) and power wash, no worries about plaster cracking on this old pool, probably 2 days...

    Do I need to replaster?

Ok, thanks everyone! I’ll look at those resources too. Re: acid wash.... this means drain the pool, right? And you are suggesting this I could do myself? What happens if too much plaster is removed? That means a replaster job, right? So the acid wash is just for cosmetic purposes then? When I...

Extraordinarily high FC and CYA trouble testing

Okay, so another few questions: 1. Do I need to be in attendance while this process is going on? 2. Any idea at all how long this might take? Ballpark idea? I realize it depends on GPM from the sump pump. What about GPM from the fill hose? I usually use 2 fill hoses but it sounds like we want...

-Yes, I wouldn’t want to try it even if it was a DIY job. Say..off the subject, can I save text preferences anywhere so my reply’s look like yours or do I have to select them each post? Also, how do I cancel a post I started from preview? I looked to see if there is any info on this but could...

Extraordinarily high FC and CYA trouble testing

o_O What , exactly ,... is “floating the shell?” It sounds ominous. Albuquerque is at 5000 feet elevation, High Dessert and all that, doncha know, low water table means most pools can’t be much more than 5 feet deep, not many diving boards.

    Do I need to replaster?

Below is the process to do a no drain water exchange: WOW! Thank you for the detailed information In general, it is safer to exchange water in a pool rather than drain. The process to exchange entails determining a few factors. The temperature of your fill water : -76-78 degrees versus the...

Okay, thank you so much! I was tinkering, as I am wont to do, took a brass brush and brushed it over some of the brown spots on the steps, and on a black spot on the deep end wall. It didn’t seem to do much to the spots, but the water sure got cloudy white . Is this the plaster flaking off...
