New Vinyl Liner Now Balancing Chemicals

Hello. We had a new vinyl liner installed Thursday. The company added 2 chlorine pucks in each skimmer and they are pretty much dissolved. (We don't usually use them but I didn't have bleach at the house because they decided to do our install at the last minute). I tested the water today...

    Leak?

I believe we have a leak in our inground pool. We are losing about a half inch to an inch every 8 to 12 hours. This is with the pump off. We have an automatic pool cover that has been on almost constantly and it hasn't been that hot so evaporation shouldn't really be an issue, correct? My...

    Automatic pool cover pump

Hello. Is the pump to get rain water off the top of the automatic pool cover supposed to get most of the water off with the pool cover closed? It's like ours isn't heavy enough to make the water slant towards where the pump is and there are huge puddles all over the cover that the pump can't...

New automatic pool cover - use for winter or mesh?

Hello. We got an automatic pool cover installed this season. The guys who installed recommended we go back to using our mesh pool cover when we close and for the winter season. Is this what most people do or do you just leave your automatic pool cover on year round? If if you do go back to...

A lot of water loss after long periods of running pump

Hello. We seem to have to fill our pool quite often. We have an automatic pool cover which is supposed to keep evaporation at bay. Most days, I run the pool for 4 hours and we lose 1/2 inch or so. However, I forgot to turn the pump off for about 24 hours and the water dropped at least 3 or 4...

Please help why am I not making progress with pool color?

Hello. We opened our pool Saturday. Added 2 bottles of algaecide first thing (this is what a company did for us last year - not sure if it was necessary). Pump has been running 24/7 since we opened. All our chemicals look good - as of yesterday this is what we were looking at: CYA - 38ish -...

Taylor kit really need 2 scoops for fc test with 10 ml of pool water?

With the Taylor test kit, it says add 2 scoops of powder when performing the fc test. Is this for 10ml of pool water too or do I only need 1 scoop? (It doesn't make sense to me to use the same amount of powder for 10ml and 25 ml of pool water). Just don't want to waste supplies! Thanks!

Opening Pool - chemicals look good but still cloudy and greenish

Hello. We opened our pool 3 days ago. Trying to slam with fc at 12 and cya 30. Last night before going to bed, fc was at 12. This morning it was at 10.5 so we only lost 1.5ppm (I realize it needs to be 1 or less). However - by those numbers I would think our pool should look pretty good...

How long does it take for ph to raise after adding baking soda?

Hello. The past 4 days or so, we did a SLAM. Yesterday, FC was 7.5 and ph was 7.1. I added 1/2 large bag of baking soda (7 lbs) to bring ph up. This morning, I tested and fc was at 3.5 and ph only came up to 7.2. I added 1/2 jug of bleach to bring up to 4 fc. If the baking soda worked...
