Learning how to use my Jandy variable speed pump

I've been a pool owner for several years, but recently upgraded to a Jandy iAqualink with a variable speed pump. I programmed the daily operation to use a specific speed, but suspect I'm doing it wrong. My questions: 1. When I backwash the filter, how do I tell the pump to operate at a higher...

Buying equipment online- does this void the warranty?

My local pool person here in Dallas is unable to procure a Jandy heater for me, but suggested that if I buy online he will install it for me. Does this break the terms of a Jandy warranty? It's a big purchase and want to follow the right steps. The installer is indeed a licensed pool professional.

This is new...could it be black algae?

For years I've struggled with some green algae. I used Algaetrine on occasion, but always struggled. I replastered my pool (pebble tec) during the fall, so this year after opening I got everything balanced and used a PoolRX as my algaecide. For 3 weeks it was sparkling. I was so pleased...

Do I keep pool cleaner in pool when adding chemicals?

I have a new Pentair Warrior SE and very pleased so far. Pool is approx 25K gallons. I typically leave the cleaner in the pool 24/7, however when adding chemicals I'm unsure whether it will harm the cleaner. Is there a consensus whether it's safe to shock (liquid), add acid (liquid), baking...

Can I save this diverter valve?

Thanks. I think it may have been a Hayward, but the outside does measure 2 1/2. Unifrtunutale local Lowes and HD dorn't have any 2 1/2 fittings. I found a 3" only. Can you kindly share a link to the Hub Saver tool? never heard of that....

Can I save this diverter valve?

someone stepped on my pipes and broke check valves.... I've cut away the broken ones. There is a remaining diverter valve which isn't broken, but has a 2" pipe inside (where I cut off). Is there any way to save this diverter valve? either by: 1. remove the two inches of the 2" pipe hat is glued...

Water level on Spa (attached to pool) drops when not used

Our spa/pool was recently remodeled. Full pressure test done before it started. Two of the spa jets were leaky and fixed. The pool equipment and pool itself sits lower than the Spa, so gravity tends to flow water back towards equipment. When the pump is running the water flows up thru fountain...

    Need help picking a heater

I have a pool + spa and live in Texas where we keep our pool filled all year. My original Hayward heater has rusted, and would rather replace than repair. Can someone suggest a starting point to figure out which heater to buy? I'm leaning towards a 400K BTU Pentair, but the different metal...

Replastered the pool....now lights won't screw into niches

the Tap set did the trick. Thanks! Used new screws that match the set. Now, however I may have a bigger problem. On one of the niche's the top screw (12 o'clock) fits fine, but the hook on bottom (6 o'clock) doesn't latch on. It may be because new plaster is on top of old plaster so now 1/4...

Replastered the pool....now lights won't screw into niches

The palaster folks are outside trying to figure this out...but maybe TFP will be faster :) My pool was replastered. The Hayward lights were pulled out of their niche and left on surface. Now that paster is done it seems like there is debris in the threaded screw hole of niche preventing the...

New color lights: Pentair Intellibrite vs J&J XG vs. Florida Sunseeker?

Thanks, that's helpful. My previous lights were hayward incandescent and I think they were fine. They are 15 years old and since I'm remodelling I think it's worth going brand new and not try to retrofit such old hardware. I've ruled out Pentair because of the reliability and poor warranty...

New color lights: Pentair Intellibrite vs J&J XG vs. Florida Sunseeker?

I need to replace 3 lights in my pool so this is a big investment. I've seen all 3 discussed in these forums. Pentair seems most popular, but least reliable. The florida Sunseeker product is generic but seems to work well. Can someone help me decide?

Pool remodel and new light...help me decide

Thank you very much. So if I remove my current (legacy) Hayward lights, it leaves a niche in the plaster. Can the Florida Sunseeker ones fit in there? Also, do I need one transformetr for the entire set, or one for each fixture?

Compool Actuator- the shiny chrome toggle switch fell off

The switch used to manually adjust my Compool wore out and broke off. 1. Is this something that can be fixed yourself? or better to replace the entire unit 2. If replacing is consensus to go with exact same model or different valve. David

    Both timers stopped working...any ideas?

I'm helping a friend here....he has a pump and cleaner attached to two Intermatic mechanical timers. They have power, and when we look thru the small peekholes, the gears seem to be moving. Problem is that when the time is set, they seem to keep correct time for an hours or so, and then stop...

I replaced my Hayward Super II pump (Century motor) with a new single speed Hayward Tristar pump (also 2 HP). Plumbing seems ok. With the help of this forum I got pipes lined up. Turned on power at breaker and motor primed nicely, and seems to run ok. Now the problem: The breaker also powers...

Replacing pump, but new suction position is 1 inch lower than old one. What to do?

I guess I'm wondering if putting the pump on tiles is too much of a hack. it's ugly and vibration could make more noise. If I were to do the proper way and angle the pipe down, where would you suggest I make the cuts and add the angle? Should I replace it from the existing elbow, or further up...
