Is "smart" home or alexa able to control your system?

I have a smart switch that was spliced into the feed for my equipment. The mechanical timer was removed and the pump is always switched to the "on" position. I've been programming it through the smartthings interface for a while and it's also alexa compatible. Just make sure the switch you...

New pool on sloped yard need to backfill the right way

the back of my pool is level with the ground and the land behind it continues to slope upward. We put in a french drain around the back 1/2 of the pool and backfilled with our existing soil. We have sandy soil. I have a radiant pool, so it's designed to be buried.

    Mastertemp for AGP?

Thank you. I just don’t know if that size heater fits into the budget right now. I’m looking to get about a 5 degree increase in temp on weekends at the beginning and end of the season. If the one suggested by the plumber wouldn’t work, then I’d rather wait and get a larger heater later. Thanks...

    Mastertemp for AGP?

I’m looking to install a heater for my 24’ AGP. I’d use it mainly at the beginning of the season and at the end. I like the pool water above 80. One plumber wants to use a mastertemp pentair 125. I was thinking of the Raypak 156. Anyone have experience with the mastertemp? Thanks!

    Radiant Pool liner separating

I wish I had a solution. I have the same problem with my radiant pool! I lost a foot of water using their cover this winter. Previously I used the standard winter cover with a bubble and didn't lose any water. I'm amazed my skimmer box didn't crack. I'm still working on trying to get the liner...

    AGP entry system from deck

I could have added the steps you were considering with my Radiant pool, but they were $5k! I went with these http://www.conferplastics.com/pools-and-spa/pool-steps/ We have the straight and 1/4 round section. If stability is a problem, I probably wouldn't add the 1/4 round since you can't...

UPDATE with test results!! Northeast freezing pool and maybe incorrect closing

You can see the ice build up in my thread from a few months ago Well, something went wrong I was much better off with the regular cover and pillow. It was a pain to put on, but I have so much more water to replace this year and I may need a new skimmer box as well. I'm going to have to keep...

UPDATE with test results!! Northeast freezing pool and maybe incorrect closing

Are you using the radiant winter cover? We used a standard winter cover last year and didn't have any issues with water leaking. This year, we used the radiant cover and water is leaking out through the skimmer box and return. We have a plate screwed onto the skimmer box inside the pool and...

    Well, something went wrong

I think we are going to change quite a few things for next year. So much for the pool builders advice on closing the pool I managed to get the ice out of the skimmer today and removed the connection to the pump. Water was just barely seeping in around the steel plate we used to...

    Well, something went wrong

I think you're on the right track. I finally got a minute to inspect it yesterday (I home with a toddler all day and he's into everything). We didn't have any leaks when the water on the cover wasn't frozen. The water line (now frozen) in the pool is significantly higher than when we put the...

    Well, something went wrong

I'm going to try to disconnect the line between the skimmer and pump. I don't think I can get in to remove the cover on the return. The Ice seems high and im afraid I might damage the cover clips if I try to do anything now. I will be using your method for next year! The valves on the pump and...

    Well, something went wrong

We don't have an aquadoor. We have a metal plate that screws onto the frame for the skimmer on the inside of the pool. It's like this: Hydrotools Stainless Steel Standard Skimmer Winter Plate The ice started at the bottom. The bottom of the skimmer was visible yesterday. Thanks for your...

    Well, something went wrong

I thought our closing went so much better this year after using a radiant cover. It goes on so much better than the type with the wire, can easily be managed by two people and doesn't blow off. I think we were so impressed by the cover install that we missed something. We drained the pool below...

    Need plans for deck

Have you looked at these? http://www.menards.com/main/building-materials/books-building-plans/deck-plans/pool-decks/c-9660.htm Our 24'x16' deck has 12 10"x4' concrete piers. Might be overkill, but it's not going anywhere. The 3' landing outside our slide is on piers and keeps sinking.

What kind of decking do you have? How do you like it?

We put in Wolf solid PVC. It sits in the sun from 10 am until sunset. I have zero complaints about it getting hot. The rocks around our pool get painfully hot and the deck is perfectly comfortable to walk on. I've had 20 people on it so far this year and no one says it's hot.

Video: Of my oval AGP installed on retaining wall due to unlevel yard

Thanks for your reply. I think they've fixed the mold/mildew problem. A lot of people complain about the heat problem with composites. My pool deck is solid pvc and I have no problems walking barefoot on it on a 95 degree day. I've made the suggestion, but older siblings don't always take the...

Video: Of my oval AGP installed on retaining wall due to unlevel yard

looks really nice! I'd like to thank you for your creative stair attachment. I just bought the parts this weekend and am planning on doing that with my steps. I just have to add another connector so I can unscrew them for the winter. It pains me to have to drill through my deck, though. What...

    Radiant pools with deluxe coping

All of my clips looked like this. You could move them around with your pinky finger. Fortunately, Tim from Radiant pools was in the area and was able to swap them out. Decreasing the small gap between the clip and where the coping bends made a huge difference. MMMM923, you might want to try...

Hey North East, Anybody Open Yet?? (Southern New Jersey here)

Upstate NY and we opened this week. It's a brisk 62 degrees and we don't have a heater. This was our first time opening the pool and I was a bit anxious to see the condition of the pool after the cover blew off twice last year. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    What's your pool cleaners name?

I told my 6 year old. His response: "THAT. IS. SO. AWESOME!!!" He's a HUGE Dr Who fan. He's not happy that ours is "just a whale".

    Composite decking

We're doing our deck with wolf pvc. It's around $3.50/ln ft. We've just started construction, so all of the boards are sitting on the patio. After a day of sitting in the sun, it doesn't get any hotter than the lumber. in fact, it's slightly cooler. It has what I would consider to be a medium...

    Deck size?

Matt, Thanks for the tip on the tool. We're doing PVC decking so I won't have to worry about it shrinking. Do you like the add-on portion of your step? Does it take up a lot of room. We have the same pool, 24' radiant. I didn't think I'd like it at first, but looking at your first picture, it...

    Deck size?

Matt, Thanks for the ideas! We're going to be getting the same steps that you have. Our supplier recommended the camo marksman tool as well. Frank, I knew there was something I left out of the budget... the margarita maker! Love it! I've already picked up some silicone wine glasses but I've...
