    New to TFP method

There is a product that I've seen linked previously - Bio Active CYA Reducer I haven't used it, but it might be a good alternative to a full drain.

    Slamming pool

Your PH was OK (7.6) when you started the SLAM, and PH readings go all haywire once the FC gets up to shock levels, so don't worry about PH, CYA, TA, or any other readings until the SLAM is done. At this point, your only task is to kill the algae and filter out their carcasses. Remember, SLAM...

Not Sure Where to Start - Or What We Are Doing Wrong

Here is the link to the software. http://www.pentairpool.com/support/screenlogic2-update.html To set up the pump speeds, you have to do "configure screen logic" from the login screen, instead of "Start Screenlogic". You can rename some of features 1-8 under step 2, and set the speeds on step...

Not Sure Where to Start - Or What We Are Doing Wrong

The app for Mac or PC that you can download from pentair has a bunch more settings, like controlling schedules and renaming features, setting custom pump speeds, etc. The interface is confusing but it is easier than using the menu's on the easy touch outside. You can definitely run the filter...

Not Sure Where to Start - Or What We Are Doing Wrong

Lisa, am I right that you have a screenlogic box that lets you control the easy touch from your computer/iphone? Something you said earlier made me think you do. If so, that is the easiest way to set up the pump speeds. Otherwise it is controlled through the easy touch panel.

Not Sure Where to Start - Or What We Are Doing Wrong

I don't think anyone here would support doing a shock on a regular basis. If you maintain a balanced chemistry with FC 5-7% of your CYA level, Algae will not grow, Combined chlorine won't be an issue, and you will have a low stress pool. The Texas sun does mean you'll have higher chlorine loss...

I ordered some of the fittings that Racket suggested, and some of the epoxy. I'll update when I know more!

Removed Heater, What can I use to reroute the plumbing

Sorry mose, its hard to debug remotely, and I'd hate to have you get into trouble by taking our advice without being there. Do you have someone electrically inclined who could help you with this? If you just want to be able to run the filter pump, and someone has the right tools to determine...

Thanks guys! Any experience with this? It seems crazy to think I could cement PVC underwater. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Oatey-Rain-R-Shine-16-oz-PVC-Cement-308933/100342516 oooh or this...

Not Sure Where to Start - Or What We Are Doing Wrong

Yes, there are two parts to this: the actual plumbing setup, and the easytouch behavior. Full disclosure, I'm guessing some of this based on your photos and how my system works. Plumbing: -There are two automatic valves in the main flow of water. You have a third automatic valve for a water...

    Eyeballs

Hi All, I have 2x returns in the pool, and one in the spa. They appear to be PVC pipe that was cut roughly to where the finished pebble surface would be. The pebble is covering the outsides of the pipe, and comes around the front of the pipe a little in some places. They are 1" Schedule 40...

    Intellebrite pool light question

Bull, If you add a signature with some details of your pool (under settings) it would help us understand your setup easier. Do you have a pool controller at all? or just a timer for the pump?

Removed Heater, What can I use to reroute the plumbing

2 more questions: 1. Is there power at the outlet below the panel? It is a GFCI, can you reset it? 2. Can you take a picture inside the Hayward panel?

Removed Heater, What can I use to reroute the plumbing

mose, What is that last picture you posted? Are those the wires that were previously attached your heater, that are coming from somewhere else in your pool equipment? A few things: 1. How many breakers are there for this equipment? Was there a separate breaker for the heater? 2. Even if...

    This site is great

Copper and Iron levels OK - 0.3ppm Copper (its really hard to tell the difference from 0 to 0.6) and 0 Iron. That makes me feel better. I now have 24 extra test strips that will probably expire before being used

    This site is great

Yup, the wall whale just arrived today. Amazon is great. The little polaris 280 does a pretty good job, so I'm betting the brush won't get a whole lot of use.

Why is PB so against the SWG?

I have an alternate theory about the PB's comment regarding "Salt Waste" in CA. Maybe he is talking about the difficulty in disposing of pool water. You can not discharge into the storm drains (which is true with or without salt), and you won't want to put the salt water onto your lawn or...

Not Sure Where to Start - Or What We Are Doing Wrong

Does your spa have a drain at the bottom? It will only pull water through when you go to Spa mode on the Easytouch. Your automatic valves will divert away from the pool skimmer and pool returns, to spa drain and jets. If you set the filter to "Filter" and run it in Spa mode, maybe you can...

    This site is great

Hi All, My wife and I said for years we would not like to have a pool, and then we had kids and realized how great a pool would be. We moved into a place in November 2012 with a recently redone kidney pool. I think the pool has been there since the 70s, but about a year before we bought it...

Not Sure Where to Start - Or What We Are Doing Wrong

Hi Lisa, this is my first post but I've been using TFPC for a long time - and it has given me the confidence to fire our PB this week after getting really frustrated that they aren't maintaining the PH, CYA, TA, Salt, Filter or really anything. I've had 2 algae outbreaks in the 2 years since we...
