Advice on SWG troubleshooting next steps

Yes I ended up swapping my cell out once i realized it wasn't able to keep up after wrestling with levels May/June with SWG set to 100%. Ran most of July/Aug with the new cell at 30% with all looking great. Yes, I bought a test kit from this site. - I'm slam/shocking with 3lbs of dichlor...

Advice on SWG troubleshooting next steps

Installed a new Pureline t-15 cell on a Aquarite 900 system about 2 months ago. Everything was great until about 2 weeks ago. I had been running the cell at ~30% and maintaining a steady 3.5-4.0 Cl level (its oversized for the pool). Suddenly the Cl cratered. No error lights. Good salt...

Light Algae - Good Cl Levels

I was afraid of that - but thank you for the advice. I use a Waterguru to keep an eye on daily and Hach test strips to verify if it throws an unusual number. Pool store a couple blocks away when I need something more precise.

Light Algae - Good Cl Levels

I have a recurring dusting of algae on sides and where the pool vac doesn't reach. It easily brushes off and vacuumed away but comes back in about a week. I've been running chlorine at about 4-5 (free and total) by running my salt generator high but hasn't helped. pH on high side (~7.9) but...

Solar Panel Vacuum Relief Valve & Variable Speed Pump

The controller is "Goldline" and only has lines for temp sensors. Yes I'm going to have the installers come back to resolve. I assume they will want to adjust the low speed's gpm upwards like you mentioned. Always like to understand the issue before a crew shows up. Thanks for the help

Solar Panel Vacuum Relief Valve & Variable Speed Pump

The controller they provided looks pretty simple. I'll have to see if it has any options or swap out

Solar Panel Vacuum Relief Valve & Variable Speed Pump

New solar panel installation on my pool. Everything is normal while pump is at full speed. When pump changes to low speed I think the vacuum valve is sucking air into the system because the return jets are bubbling nosily and bubbles appear in the solar return check valve window. There is...

Ok - good feedback - thank you

Relative safety of 12v vs. 120v lighting?

I need to replace an old 120v pool light. An electrician recommended that I use the opportunity to switch to a 12v light since they are safer. I asked the question ‘If done correctly, aren’t both safe?’ His response was that if something goes wrong/breaks, etc. the safety for a 120v light is...

Adding a lot of salt. Normal?

Ok thanks to everyone for input. I'll see if I can track this down

Adding a lot of salt. Normal?

Salt cell is less than 1yr. I'll try letting it drop as you mentioned and see if there is a difference in rate of loss There is a small amount of air in pump basket and out the returns. New gasket on the pump basket cover so I'm pretty sure not entering there. Think I have supply side leak...

Adding a lot of salt. Normal?

There is a low salt indicator on the SWG. I've verified its accuracy by testing samples at a pool supply store (I don't have a kit test for salt myself)

Adding a lot of salt. Normal?

I definitely am not losing water/salt to rain overflow. I don't 'think' I have a leak. I tried the bucket comparison as recommended in the pool school section. After 4 days the bucket is ~1 inch higher than pool. (so ~ .25"/day difference). My neighbors seem to think that difference is...

Adding a lot of salt. Normal?

I'm adding ~1 40lb bag every 2 weeks. I'm in Florida but pool is unused now. I have the pump run down to 4hrs and I've set the SWG to its lowest setting. I have no trouble maintaining good Cl levels. I've had my salt levels manually tested to be sure the SWG wasn't misreading too. Is this...

    Chem Storage Question

I'd like to know if its acceptable practice to store pool chemicals (acid, liquid Cl, stabilizer) together in an outdoor storage bin? Something like this I'm in Florida -- so +90F weather is common. I would keep it in a shaded area however. Also, intend to keep a lock on it. Thanks for the...

    Resurfacing Splotchy at 3+ Weeks

OK I added 3 more photos to original post plus a video link at bottom. The video helps to distinguish shadow vs. spots. You'll want to set quality to HD on playback. Think this is good as I can do with pics -- not much of photographer!

    Resurfacing Splotchy at 3+ Weeks

The base cement is not tinted -- its pure white. The colors are from crushed aggregate (blue, gray, white). Here's a link -- mine is "Miami Blue" These pictures aren't the best. I took them in dim indirect light to minimize glare and shimmer on bottom. I'm going to try an underwater cam to...

    Resurfacing Splotchy at 3+ Weeks

Recently had my pool resurfaced and I’m concerned that the scuff marks and large discolored areas do not appear to be evening out over time. I’m looking for input from more experienced on how far off the norm it is, and what can be done to correct. Here’s some background / time line: 2/23 –...

Feedback Requested on PureChor (Solaxx) SWG

Just had a SWG added as part of more extensive pool project. The SWG the contractor installed is a PureChlor (manufactured by Solaxx). Scouring the net doesn't have much info on these in terms of reliability and user satisfaction. Does anyone have any experience with these to share?
