Remove concrete from railing bolt holes

Never mind. A small wire brush worked more easily than I thought.

Remove concrete from railing bolt holes

Good Morning. I had some concrete repair done on my deck and some of the bolt holes for my railings have some concrete in them. Can anyone help with how to get the concrete out without damaging the threads? Thanks

Can I run a motor with three through rods

Hi, i am rebuilding a 3/4 hp Tristar motor and one of the through rods just would not come loose and broke. Does anyone know if I can run the motor with just three rods keeping the motor together? Thanks

    Vacuum Hose Length

I am getting a shorter one as there is a good bit of slack - I measure 27 feet from the skimmer to the furthest point of the pool (plus 3 feet for depth). I have a 35.5 x 16.5 Grecian shape. I was considering whether to go with 30 or 35 feet. If the thirty was really only 28 feet long and...

    Vacuum Hose Length

Hi, I have to replace my vacuum hose, so I measured a very old one I am using. It measures a little over 42 feet with no stretching of it. Does any one know if this is a 40 foot hose that stretched, or a 45 foot hose because it might stretch to that length? Thanks Chris

    Hot Tub disposal

Thanks all for the suggestions. We don't have a dump. Maybe I will offer it up, but it is on its last legs and I am not sure I want to push it off on someone who may not be aware of the problems.

VS Pump Gradually Loses Flow Until Restarted

I recently lost both flow and pressure at the same time. The issue was pine needles blocking the impeller. If the pressure is up, the issue is probably a clogged/full filter from algae or something else. This could be gradual as stuff in the water starts accumulating on the filter media. Even...

    Hot Tub disposal

Hi, I have a hot tub that is pushing 20 years, that I am contemplating getting rid of. It is a big 7 person tub with an acrylic liner. Is there an economical way to get rid of this myself, or do I just bite the bullet and pay (hundreds?) for someone to remove it. I am thinking of cutting it...

Trim piece on stair Gasket coming off

Thanks, it is definitely not a liner piece as it is white and my liner is dark. It sounds like it is no big deal though and I can jut trim it off. Chris

Trim piece on stair Gasket coming off

Hi, I had my liner replaced two years ago and now either a trim or an edge of the stair gasket is coming off. I am attaching two pics. Algae and debris are getting in the slotted area, but I could remove it if I brushed it hard. Does anyone know if this is just trim and no problem or if...

Lower water level in filter w/out backwashing?

Hi, I have to replace the spider gasket on my Pro Grid DE filter. Can I just lower the water level in the filter without losing a bunch of the DE, or should I bite the bullet and backwash first? Thanks for any replies.

Does the order of balancing water matter?

I use bleach for my spa.

Does the order of balancing water matter?

Stabilizer is cyanuric acid. It is added to pools and some chlorine types have it, primarily to prevent the breakdown of chlorine by sunlight. Many chlorine granules sold for spas are sodium di chlor...... (I don't know the spelling exactly) but you will see that cyanuric acid is part of the...

Nut for band on old-style hayward DE filter

Sure. It's a Hayward Pro Grid 4820. About 8 years ago, Hayward changed the band that kept the two halves of the filter housing together on all of the Pro Grid filters. They almost immediately stopped making replacements for the old band, o-ring and screw assembly. There was a notice here about...

Nut for band on old-style hayward DE filter

I looked through here, but could not find an answer. Has anyone found a replacement or work arobund for a stripped nut sleeve for the band on the old style Hayward DE filters? I would hate to have to buy a new filter because of a $10.00 part. The body and grids are in great shape. Thanks.

When I go away, I lower the temperature of my spa to about 80 and shock to about 15 ppm before I leave. This seems to keep it for a week. Chris

    Check Valve Problem

I have a flap check valve, about two years old, after my filter, which feeds into a three way actuated valve for my solar heater. (see pic) I believe it has a one pound spring. This year when the pump is off and the actuator is in the off position, the valve leaks a small amount of water out...

Again: Uprated, Fullrated Motors; Service Factor

The loud noise is almost certainly the bearings starting to go. One of my spa's pumps went recently and I found a friend who had a puller and a little knowledge of motors help me replace the bearings and the wet end seal. Saved me several hundred dollars and it is now running more quietly and...

Air leaking out of return plugs

When closing this year, I have air leaking out of both of the return plugs after blowing out the lines. I tried a new plug, but still have the issue. I use the screw in plugs, and tightened hand tight and when it did not seal I tightened it slowly all the way, but both continued to leak. Do I...

    Jandy Check Valve for Solar

I am replacing some plumbing on my pool, which includes the check valve for my solar panels. I was going to replace my ball check valve with a Jandy check valve, as I read here that they have significantly less resistance. However, Jandy instructions say that the check valve should be used in...

    Install of replacement jet internals

I have to replace two waterway jet internals on my spa - a cluster storm and a polystorm. The jets have a cutout on the side of the back. I have attached a picture of one. Is there a way to tell which direction the cutout should be installed? I have a feeling it has to do with aeration and it...
