Hi, I have to replace the spider gasket on my Pro Grid DE filter. Can I just lower the water level in the filter without losing a bunch of the DE, or should I bite the bullet and backwash first? Thanks for any replies.

Kill the power and open the air bleed. Gravity will do the rest. Hopefully not too much DE will slide backwards out through the pump into the pool.
