Thanks a bunch! Going to dump in salt now and get the process going! The BBB method initially was overwhelming and now looking back it's so simple. I'm sure the SWG will be the same once I get the hang of it.

I'm working on balancing my water so my hubby can rig up the SWG tomorrow. We live in a small town and neither of the 2 pool supply places even know what a strip to test for only salt is. They wanna give me bottle of those strips that test chlorine, ph, etc... (Eeew. No one would buy it!) So...

    Pool light reviews

Our liner is a medium ocean blue color except trim has burnt orange and grays with the blue. The light output is great and lights from it's location, centered under the diving board, all the way to the shallow steps at the other end (they're white and they glow in the light). The deep end is a...

What's a "weir" :?: I'm from Southeast Missouri and whatever your talking about either our inground doesn't have it or we just call it by some other name! :goodjob: Great gesture and wonderful movie by the way! (Pay It Forward)

    Pool light reviews

Jandy Watercolors LED~ Don't BUY ONE!!! I love the LED idea of these lights and my Jandy Watercolors really lights up my 18x36 inground vinyl lined pool. BUT the RED, yes, I said RED color is Halloween-like creepy...the light has beautiful pinks, purple, blues and green colors and the pool...

Spring contest: Name your Pool Cleaner

Durn...missed the deadline for entering my little pool cleaner in the contest. My 9 yr old named it and dressed it up. I thought the deadline was the end of April! Anyway, will you have another cleaner contest or take a late entry? My fault for missing it, but he'll be so disappointed that...

Hoping to swim before Summer...New install!

With our DIY install we used Polymer walls. We put the pool in what I called the Clay Pit! What a MESS that stuff is! I think I googled something like "Steel vs Polymer inground pool" and found several helpful sites for info on making our decision. Most against Steel and for the Polymer. We...

Hoping to swim before Summer...New install!

We bought our DIY vinyl lined IG kit from Royalswimmingpools.com They are out of Memphis, TN. They had some of the best prices around and helpful, knowledgable staff to answer even the craziest questions that we came up with! I would buy from them again! :goodjob: We have an 18x36 rectangle...

Adding a Bajillion jugs of Acid??? What am I doing wrong?

Thanks so much! I'll keep chuggin along and aerate before trying to drop TA further. The pool calculator didn't have a timeframe or anything so I assumed that as long as the water circulated good, the TA should've dropped below 100... I'll just be patient and work on my PH. Guess i'm...

Adding a Bajillion jugs of Acid??? What am I doing wrong?

Here were my test results after pouring the concrete decking around the pool 2 days ago: Yes, there were small, slight little blops here and there...nothing major at all. Very little wet concrete went into the pool...A couple super quick vacuums in the gathering spots and that was all she wrote...

    LINER ISSUES

I agree with being able to redo a first year liner. We just installed IG vinyl lined pool ourselves and had step trim issues that resulted in draining down shallow end (actually most of it just leaked out on it's own!). While waiting for part kit our liner just hung there for a week. Just make...

New to the forum and pool disaster area. pic heavy

Not sure about your area, but check around on the pool sand. The pool store here in southern Missouri wanted $12 for a 50# bag and i found a plumbing supply that carries pool items and got the same sand for $7 a bag. So check around and ask others in the area... I saved $30 by making two extra...

Skimmer sock - all the time or just occassionally?

I like this ebay skimmer sock...it's huge and my inground Auqa Genie basket is a monster! I've only used it a week or so but there were 2 in the pack so I switch them out, let the dirty one dry inside out and shake the junk off and then trade and repeat. For the price ($10 on ebay for 2 with...

New POOL's FULL...Pumps not working yet! Now what?

THanks guys for all the quick info. I put a jug of Wal-Mart bleach in very slowly as the two firehoses put in the last thousand gallons or so. I waited on the CYA since the answers were mixed. Pump and filter will be running by tomorrow afternoon. The pool is full and kids are swimming now...

Should we use 1 1/2" or 2" PVC for Plumbing our IG?

Thanks to all who posted on this pipe size question. We went with the 2' since we had not yet plumbed the pool. Once again TFP to the rescue! And again I'm reminded why I joined as a LIFETIME Supporter and ordered the super duper test kit the first day I stumbled upon this site! Wuhoo...

Should we use 1 1/2" or 2" PVC for Plumbing our IG?
