Algae of some sort?? Can't brush off.....arghhh

I went to clean my 16 x 32 vinyl lined pool and found I couldn't even brush the growth off. I originally thought it was just dirt laying in the low spots but even with vigorous brushing it does not come off. It appears dark to black at first then turns yellowish after brushing. I gave it a brush...

    Solar bypass valve placement

I just installed a 1 HP, 2 speed Pentair Whisperflo.....I run it on low speed for circulation and filtering. I installed a relay onto my solar controller so that when heat is demanded , and the diverter valve directs water to the roof the pump is switched to high speed. The problem is that it is...

Pump finally died.....advice on a replacement please...

I added a pressure gauge to monitor the panel pressure....see pic....(notice the red handled valve below the gauge) With pump on high speed(1 hp) and the solar on the filter gauge reads 28 psi and the panel gauge reads 8 psi. With pump on high speed and solar off ....filter gauge = 22...

Rough installed my new Whisperflo yesterday. Just using the manual high/Low switch on the motor for now and will get to the auto switching later.....This pump is so much quieter than my old pump....even on high speed (low speed I can hardly hear it)....Love it!! I never had a check valve...

Pump finally died.....advice on a replacement please...

OK.....I think I've figured out a solution to my situation. I'm considering this: - 2 speed Pentair Whisperflo 1 HP - going to make up a lever off of the Solar actuator valve shaft that will activate a Limit switch ( SPDT) in the fully open position that will switch the pump to high speed. As...

Pump finally died.....advice on a replacement please...

Is the Pentair VS 3050 , 011018 too much pump for my needs , and would it be able to "tell " if the solar was on or off? I read somewhere that it has intuitive controls of this sort...or could I or would i have to wire it to the relays from the aqua solar??

Pump finally died.....advice on a replacement please...

In my manual it states: ( and I may be reading this wrong , but I think this should be able to accomplish the two speed switch?) "A maximum of two High Voltage relays may be added to the AQ-Sol-LV. Order additional relays separately (Goldline p/n "AQ-Relay) The relays are industry standard and...

.....OK....now that you two are done squabbling....LMAO..... Jason: Which VF pump would you recommend, if not those two haywards that Mark had suggested? ....and why? (I've been looking a bit at the Intelliflo....would this pump be able to communicate with the Aqua solar to change to higher...

I have been reading a bit more in the hydraulics 101.....i find this waaayyyy confusing!! I have additional information as well as a question now. My pool was built probably in the late 70's early 80's and the plumbing is buried underneath concrete slabs so until I decide to do that total reno...

Pump finally died.....advice on a replacement please...

Don't know if the pump was the correct size or not..and have no idea if the solar panels were working optimally....they made hot water but as to whether or not it was max output I don't know....filter pressure went from 9.5 with solar off to 13.5 with solar on, if that helps....now that it's...

    Homemade Heat Exchanger

My pool equipment is located in my garage and as such the pump is generating a lot of unwanted heat inside the garage.
