I have been monitoring CH for a few weeks and am consistently getting 175. This is really unusual as we live in a very hard water area (lots of limestone). I think the CH was low before we entered this recent rainy season. I can't even buy calcium at a pool store here bc no one has low CH...

I have passed my OCLT and am nor sure how to proceed. My chlorine is still coming down from shock level. At what point will my numbers be "good". I think I remember seeing that high chlorine skewed the TA results.

I'm out of the DPD powder that came with my test kit. Leslie's does not carry this powder. Is there another product I can use while I await a refill? I'm trying to pass my OCLT and I'm going to not have enough to complete! Argh!!!

I think I get a bunch of organic matter off the trees which lowers my chlorine readings. First time my pool has not turned green after a rain. It may be a stupid ? , but what does it mean to pump to waste? Is that just that it bypasses the filter?

Ok...I feel sure I would have passed my OCLT last night, but it rained 4 inches! Not sure what to do now. I will go look somewhere on here, but do I backwash/drain to a good level and start over?

Just for clarification: every time I check my FC it should be at shock level or I add according to the TFP calculator, correct?

Water crystal clear. Checking after dark tonight and before sunrise tomorrow. If I am done SLAMing will I then just do the daily check? How often do you do the "big" chemical check?

The water is clear. I actually tested this morning, but had not tested after dark last night. This morning FC was 6.5, CC .5 TC 7 So do I test tonight after dark and before sunrise in the morning? Also, do I add more bleach today or wait until after tomorrow morning's reading? Off to read...

Pool finished filling and circulated. New Numbers: PH: 7.5 FC: 0 CH: 250 TA: 160 CYA: 35-40 :D Pool math indicates to add 106 oz bleach. NOthing really indicated about TA. Is that correct? Any other suggestions?

Almost done draining 60% of pool. After I let water circulate a couple of hours and check chemicals do I then just start with TFP method?

I completed the CYA procedure, but with the dilution and got 50. So I am thinking drain 50% of the pool. :( Seems so wrong for a 4 month old pool. Could the builder possibly have added too much stabilizer at set up? Not sure what happened to my previous reply, but I have the TF-100 test...

I purchased the TF-100 test kit. I will perform the dilution test now and see what I get.
