What to do with bucket of wet CYA?

We do have a hazardous disposal site. I could probably get it back in the plastic bag.

What to do with bucket of wet CYA?

I screwed up and now have 3 lbs of formerly dry CYA, now wet in a plastic bucket. I don’t have a use for it now. What can I do with it? How did I end up with this problem? I was opening the pool after is sat for nearly a year. The chlorine and CYA were both low (like zero) and all I could...

How to treat pool under safety cover - in hot sunny climate

We rarely use out pool, and plan to be gone for long trips (up to 3 months). We thought we would get a safety type cover to keep the leaves and sun off the pool not only for our trips but all year. My first question is, should I change the CYA and chlorine levels from what I've been doing...

    Stenner pump pumping too much

Replaced the cam, ring, and lifter. Works great! Actually it may be better than new. When new it made a ratcheting sound on lower setting. That's gone now. Thanks for the help!

    Stenner pump pumping too much

Bama, It was the cam. Not broken, but grooved and mangled. Too bad I didn't check the thread earlier, I already ordered a repair kit. The cam and lifter are pretty worn, and maybe could be reused, but it didn't cost much more for the kit than the cam alone. Thanks for the help! David

Thanks! I was looking on the website for troubleshooting, but didn't see the manual. I'll check this out in the morning.

    Stenner pump pumping too much

I have a Stenner 45MHP10 pumping chlorine. It is maybe 3 or 4 years old, and other than replacing duck valves and pump tubes has been great. Recently I found it pumping too much into the pool. I tried turning down the flow adjustment, but the adjuster ring seems to be stuck on about #3. When...

    2018 Bleach Prices

I'll have to try HEB! Been buying "gallons" at Costco, but not quite a gallon and more expensive! Do you know anyplace to buy bulk around Austin? At the right price it would pay for a carboy or two.

New to forum, Drained pool, now what?

Progress update: With CYA at 70 8-16 oz of cal-hypo daily keeps the FC in the 5-10 range with CC 0 to 0.5. CH is still a bit low, but i'm using cal-hypo until it get to 250, then I will switch over to bleach. Looks like this really works! Thanks for the help!

New to forum, Drained pool, now what?

Thanks for the info. I get plenty of UV here. Pool is on the southwest side of the house. There are some trees on the east side of the pool, but it gets direct sun from before noon until sunset every day. I plan to use liquid bleach for daily chlorinating. The chlorinator is there, but I...

New to forum, Drained pool, now what?

One of the pool store guys mentioned higher CYA for Austin. Is that because of the weather, being so hot?

New to forum, Drained pool, now what?

First, great forum! Wish I had found it earlier! After adding using too much stabilized chlorine for too many years, my CYA was over 250 and algae out of control. I drained the pool and cleaned the walls with 1/3 bleach - 2/3 water, took the DE filter apart and thoroughly cleaned. I think...
