Chlorine level in salt water pool

I’m vacationing in an house with a saltwater pool. I’ve never had a saltwater pool. I’ve tested the water with a 3-way drop test kit that I bought locally. It doesn’t show any chlorine level. Shouldn’t you be able to use this test in a saltwater pool too?

Remove this maple tree or let it be?

If the tree is northeast of the pool, I would leave it. Storms will typically blow the leaves away from the pool. After the helicopters fall in the spring the maple is a pretty clean tree. My pool had several trees around it and everyone always stated how pretty the pool was nestled among the...

Fiberglass Pool Repair Advice & Vinyl Conversion Question

I believe it was something like this. They either made the ones for the bends out of the same material or bought something like the item below.

Fiberglass Pool Repair Advice & Vinyl Conversion Question

I saw a fiberglass pool that had been drained and they received a large rain which popped and cracked the bottom of the pool but didn't pop the pool out of the ground. They had a vinyl liner installed in it and it looked great. I was really surprised how well it looked. They attached the liner...

Help - Coping Clips for Old Pool

Try Cardinal Pool Extrusions at 570-385-1244. They used to make a version of this and supplied the clips too. This is their newer style. There was another company that made it too and I can't remember who it was right now. https://cardinalpools.com

Hybrid Pool Fiberglass Sides and Concrete Bottom Convert to Liner

I saw a full fiberglass pool converted once. It looked great. The owner had drained the pool and a big rain came which popped the bottom up without popping the pool out of the ground. They just just pushed the bottom back flush and added a thin layer of sand and put the liner over it. It took a...

    Air in return lines

Yes, I've let the air out with the release valve a few times but it never helped any. The weir doors have been fine (I have 2 skimmers) and the water level is 3/4 up the skimmer. I guess I'll just wait and see if it happens again. Very confusing, I've never had anything like that happen before.

    Air in return lines

I'm still not sure what went on. After I re-did some of the fittings at the pump it still didn't help. I tried to by pass the filter and put it on recirculate and it helped some. I left running enough for it to get all the air out but it never stopped. I turned off the pump and as I push the...

    Air in return lines

I forgot to take any pictures, I was having trouble figuring out where the water was coming from. It's not a lot of water. I did notice there is more air showing up in the pump basket than there usually is. Pump isn't having any issues staying primed but does seem to take a little longer to...

    Air in return lines

It's larger size bubbles that you can actually hear coming out all 5 returns the same amount. Its like a big gush of bubbles, then smaller bubbles, then another big gush of bubbles. The bubbles do not go away. I went home for lunch and shut the valve on each skimmer off at different times and it...

    Air in return lines

I have a lot of air bubbles coming out the return lines. I'm not loosing any water so I don't think any pipes have cracked. I have (5) returns back into the pool and all are getting the same amount of air coming out. Is there anyway air can be entering though the filter valve even it I don't...

    Aquabot Reva

Yes, the swivel cord would be nice. I've noticed that the Reva doesn't really get twisted up like my last one....but I've only used it one time.

    Liner replacement-sand-bottom pool

Basically it's very similar to an above ground pool with a sand bottom. You may trying someone who does both types of pools. I have the same type pool and the liner that was in the pool when I first bought the pool 22yrs ago was perfect. When I replaced the liner 13 years ago, they didn't do...

    Aquabot Reva

Yes, I wished I had seen that one for that price before I bought the REVA!! I think I would have been happy with it and saved some money :). I paid 797.00 for the REVA and it works really good so far. I was happy that it has an option to just clean the floor since I don't have a lot of issues...

New Pool Build In Progress - IG Vinyl

I figured that's who it was. Definitely better workmanship than SSP had a few years back. I'm not sure if SSP was still under the same ownership as it was back when I used them. Thanks for the input!

New Pool Build In Progress - IG Vinyl

Just curious, is it SSP or PBLSP that is doing the build? My house is going on the market soon and if I can sell it I will be putting in a new pool either in 2023 or 2024. I've dealt with SSP before. I understand if you don't want to say.

    Florida Block-Pool Build

My concrete block/vinyl liner pool is like that, but 3'6 to 8' sloped and no hopper. The slope bottom is great for party's because everyone can find just the right depth. I have 90 degree corners and they have worked fine for (3) liners. My pool is over 30 years old and is holding up strong. My...

what is your best advice to prevent liner fading?

When I need to "shock" or run at a higher chlorine level, I always make sure the water level is at or below my normal water level. This helps keep the fading below the water which helps hide it some. You will start to notice the fading much more when you drop the water level during closing time...

    Wish you would’ve done…or not

I really like my sloped wedge bottom. It goes from 3.5' to 8' in a steady slope. When I go to other pools with the diving "pit" I feel like I need to be more cautious when diving. People can also always find the perfect depth to stand and talk. It's harder to get this style because most pools...
