Was thinking mustard algae, but maybe rust +regular algae?

Anyhow, I have been trying to get on top of this slam in between life and the very limited availability of quality chlorine near me. Also, there might be a disclaimer that my testing drops are (cough) 2 years old and my r-o870 is black and goopy (kinda makes the chlorine test hard to read with...

Was thinking mustard algae, but maybe rust +regular algae?

Well this has certainly proved to be the most difficult of pool years for me. Went on vacation and came back to a green pool and have been struggling pass a OCLT.

Advice on a decent deck layout

You are correct in that it's a little channel that it sits in 😬 I had the same thoughts to be honest, about 'stuff' getting down in there and speeding up the wood breaking down. My grandpa was the contractor and is pretty stubborn once he gets an idea in his head and I didn't want to bring it...

    Two speed pump recommendation

Well coming from an above ground pool owner that went from a Pentair Optiflo, 1 hp, 2 speed (lasted 5 years) to a Hayward Powerflo Matrix 1.5 hp 2 speed I can say the Hayward feels and sounds much nicer. You can't even hardly hear the thing. It's only been in operation for less than 24 hours at...

Advice on a decent deck layout

Ooh thats a really good idea! I have tried thinking of things to disguise it and I am always at a loss and then I take another drink and quit caring. Haha. But that is a good idea.

Advice on a decent deck layout

A couple more- the stairs lead to our upper deck where there is access to the kitchen so no more grassy feet into the pool for bathroom and drink breaks

Advice on a decent deck layout

I figured 3 years later I would update with what we did for our deck. It was a looooong road but we finally got it the way we want it! We went with a Ipe decking and love how ti turned out. Takes about 2 full days of work a season to get it washed, brightened, and oiled to bring back the rich...

    Womp womp, pump died :(

It had an OK run, 5 years. I was kinda thinking I would get longer out of it but oh well. We had a Pentair Optiflow 1hp, 2 speed. We do winterize every year and bring it in but I left him out in the weather a little longer than I should have this year and I also use our suction side Zodiac G3 on...

    What's your current pool temp?

Hey you Florida peeps  First, I am jealous, because after the most boring and non-sunny Pacific NW summer we finally gave up the good fight and covered . I have never had such a terrible swimming summer since putting our pool in. Anyhow, we are going on vacation to WDW in a few days...

    Mothers Day Gifts-pool related

I second the bluetooth speaker option. It is a necessity for the pool experience. Although my little neighbor lady who plays revenge 60's music from her side of the fence begs to differ.....and no--we don't play it loud at all! Either the water carries it in a strange way to her yard or shes...

DIY Solar--What to do for a pump?

Soooo..... I bought 300' of PEX . Sometimes I just can't help myself once I get an idea in my head...even if I (and everyone else) think it is probably a bad one. I got a little 1/3 HP transfer pump from Harbor Freight. I needed to get one anyway for draining off water from my cover in...

Also my cat hopped on my keyboard during my last round of replying. I was hoping I got it edited before anyone saw but @splashpad is too quick!

DIY Solar--What to do for a pump?

I started adding up the cost of what I would need and it very quickly started becoming more expensive than premade. Once you factor in the upcharge for my 'skills' and all the wrong/extra parts I would undoubtedly buy it is not a great choice. :ROFLMAO:

DIY Solar--What to do for a pump?

Ok I think you guys are right :ROFLMAO:. I just really, REALLY wanted to avoid messing with my plumbing. Although I must say I made 60 pounds of concrete weighted PVC tubes to hold down my ladder yesterday (because holy floating stairs batman!) and I managed to use a saw without cutting off any...

DIY Solar--What to do for a pump?

I think I want to try an attempt at a DIY solar heater not attachted to my main pump (looking at using this guys idea ). I am not expecting 90 degree temps but if I could bring the pool up a couple degrees I would be happy. For a handful of different reasons I would prefer to try this instead...

Review of the Zodiac G3 after a month of use

I went ahead and purchased the Zodiac G3 with leaf canister after being on the fence regarding automatic cleaners for the last two years. I figured if it meant less manual vacuuming and more time floating it was worth the money. Our biggest battle when it comes to junk in our pool is nearby...

How much longer until you open?

Our temps have been 60 high/40 low the last few days. I don't know what my water temps are but I'm sure it can't be higher than 50. We don't really start warming up until late May. I have the overwhelming urge to open her up just to look at my water. Our winter has been so depressing. Nothing...

Shopping list for new build in Colorado

As far as padding we did the pink foam underneath. Cost around 250$ if I remember right, maybe a bit more, but I'm glad we did it. Having a smooth pool bottom is very worth it. I always hated the lumps and bumps that would show up in the sand bottom of our old intex. The only regret I have is...
