Jandy upgrade for variable speed pump

Im a little lost now... what is the difference between IQ20-RS and IQ900-RS? Jandy has an upgrade document that says use the IQ900-RS but it may be dated. Is the IQ20-RS newer?

Jandy upgrade for variable speed pump

I've got an older Jandy Aqualink RS8. I'ts connected to an Autelis unit so even though it's old, Ive already got web control. The other day my 2-speed pump motor went out. I want to upgrade to a Pentair Intelliflo VS but it's looking like this is going to be a costly upgrade. According to...

Need to shock and change filter. Which order?

As to why I’m shocking the pool, my water is crystal clear but I’ve developed little black or very dark green spots on the plaster. They are not brushing away all that easy. We’ve been going to the river a lot and bringing toys and bathing suits back and forth. Not sure if something got...

Need to shock and change filter. Which order?

Yes I have the TF-100 test kit. I know about SLAM and intend to follow it. Just curious if you would install the new cartridge before or after SLAM.. I assume by the replies that it won’t really matter one way or the other. Thanks

Need to shock and change filter. Which order?

I bought a new filter to replace my 13 year old cartridge. I’d say I got my moneys worth out of it but it’s time. My water is clear but I’m getting dark green spots on the plaster so I think I need to shock the pool. Should I shock first let it clear up and then put the new filter in? Or...

    So-Cal backyard bar

The very first pic is my actual bar/kitchen. You can see the pizza oven in the top left corner. It's already complete, along with the roof and deck. It was not pre-fab. I built it with the help of the forno bravo forum. You can see all the pics on my wordpress page: http://n8sbar.servebeer.com/

    So-Cal backyard bar

One more question in addition to the above. Regarding the other side of the bar, the T shaped side, with the double 12" cantilever; does this frame made of 1.25" square x .125" wall tube steel look sufficient enough for the 2" gfrc?

    So-Cal backyard bar

Couple questions about the steel studs for the bar. I've never used them before. 1.) I gather it's arguably better to use rivets so that the hardi-backer sits flush. I've also read that stainless is best. Any issue with galvanic corrosion? If not, I'll go with these 1/8" stainless rivets and...

    So-Cal backyard bar

Before I lay in with the questions I'll catch everyone up. Finished the pool in 2010. Did a DIY solar panel install (34 panels) in 2013. I've been working on my outdoor bar since January 2014. This has been the biggest, most multi-faceted project yet. First was the roof; a roughly 450 sq...

Raypak heater pilot lights but gas valve wont open

I know I'll get yelled at for this, but I waited for the pilot to ignite then jumpered 24vac to the gas valve and it immediately goes to ignition lock out (ILO). Does this tell anything? How does the ILO prevent the valve from opening? Even with the gas valve jumpered with 24v, it still never...

Raypak heater pilot lights but gas valve wont open

Doesn't the pilot just ground to the metal body of the heater? How would I check the ground? I pulled the board out and looked at it closely and didn't see anything obvious. Anyone ever replaced the relays on these? It would be an easy solder and being the only mechanical feature on the...

Raypak heater pilot lights but gas valve wont open

Which part of the pilot detects the flame? I can try to clean it. Can I test the high tension wire with a multi-meter?

Raypak heater pilot lights but gas valve wont open

I've got a Raypak P-R405B-EN (RP2100). The pilot lights but continues to click, click, click. Screen reads "spk" But the valve never opens. There is no voltage at the valve. Does this point to the PC board, or is there a sensor that tells the board that the pilot is lit that could be...

surface mount sub-panel on stucco exterior rear knockout

I thought code required the wire to be secured so that if it got pulled on somewhere, it couldnt pull out of the breaker or pull the breaker out?

surface mount sub-panel on stucco exterior rear knockout

I'd still have a similar issue on the main panel side since I dont have access to the back of it either. I thought there had to be something for clamping on the inside of the panel but maybe there just isn't.

surface mount sub-panel on stucco exterior rear knockout

Wouldnt I need to secure the wire somehow? Seems like a chase nipple would leave the wire loose in the hole.

surface mount sub-panel on stucco exterior rear knockout

Can these be engaged inside the sub-panel? http://www.homedepot.com/p/Halex-3-4-in ... /202077089 Or do they have to lock the cable in place from outside the box too?

surface mount sub-panel on stucco exterior rear knockout

The box is not yet mounted. I'm going to attempt to snake the wire through the wall so I will not have access inside the wall. I would use one of these: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Halex-1-in-N ... /202241099 but I read that the clamp side has to be outside the box? If I put the clamp outside...

surface mount sub-panel on stucco exterior rear knockout

I want to feed my subpanel, by running #6 or #8 NM from the main, through the wall a few feet, to the back knockout of a surface mount exterior subpanel mounted on a wall. If I can't put the clamp screws inside the box, what type of strain relief do you use?

Which salt system for aqualink rs?

Compupool it is! Now I have to pick a size. My pool is 15k gl. But being in Ca. and the fact that my pool can get up to 90° in the summer, I need to oversize it. My previous system was rated for 20k, but in the summer I had to run the pump 12 hours for it to keep up. I'd like to avoid that...

Which salt system for aqualink rs?

Well, given that I'm a cheapo and can't afford the regular aquapure 1400, I'm torn between the EI and the CPSC24. I've never had any feedback on my OneTouch and to be honest, it's not really a big deal to me. If I could get it for the price, cool, if not no biggee. My old system never told me...

Which salt system for aqualink rs?

Looks like the Jandy Aquapure EI has some communication with the aqualink RS. What kinda of features would that provide between the two devices? Is the EI a decent unit? The cells are remarkably inexpensive.

Which salt system for aqualink rs?

Is there any benefit of going with a Jandy salt system when using an older aqualink rs one touch? My cleva-clor salt system finally died. In the passed I just used one of the relays in the aqualink rs to turn the salt cell on and off. Does the aqualink provide any sort of feedback if I use a...

Re: Control your Jandy equipment from your PC with a $15 ada Not sure how much I mentioned this; I found this device that did exactly what I was looking for. Price isn't bad, it works great, and the customer service is excellent. They have added several features to the firmware just based on...

Old salt cell union nut cracked

In this pic, it is the upper cell that has the cracked union. It appears that there may be just enough pipe out of the t, before the elbow, to cap. But that means that the good cell will now see twice the flow compared to what it is used to seeing. I wonder if this will be the death of it?

Old salt cell union nut cracked

I've got an old RP40HD unit that has two salt cells. One of the cells was dead when I bought the equipment, the other has always been enough to keep up so I never worried about it. The other day I noticed a small drip from the dead cell so I went to tighten it and realized the nut was cracked...
