I, too, am trying real hard to justify getting a heater for my 9,000 gal AGP in Kansas City. It is sad that it may not be practical. Maybe if I spray foam insulation around the sides. I just want to warm it a few degrees so I can use it in May and Sept.

I agree on the solar cover. In addition, I'm also curious about adding padding or insulation of some kind between the liner and the wall when I replace the liner.

Can I use an inground heater on an above ground pool? I was told the output would be too hot and melt the hoses and fittings. Maybe that defends on the flow rate. I was also told by someone else that a 100k btu heater would be to small. What is the best way to get the rights size considering...
