Hayward TriStar (2 speed) Pump Won't start

To finish off the solution for this issue. I was still having intermittent problems where the pump would not start. I have an Intermatic T10604R enclosure that has a T104M that controls power to the pump. It looks like it was bad on one pole. I replaced it with a new one and now the pump is...

Hayward TriStar (2 speed) Pump Won't start

Thank you. When I started checking voltages it was only 120V instead of 240V at the motor. I believe I traced it to a loose wire from one of the timers. At least I'm hoping that was it. Once the pump started I immediately added chlorine and let it filter. Thanks again

Hayward TriStar (2 speed) Pump Won't start

I have a TriStar (2 speed) pump SP3210Z2BER pump that suddenly will not turn on today. No sound at all. It was working yesterday. I have checked the usual things, power is getting to the pump. Even though there was no buzz sound when switched on, I replaced the capacitor which did not help. The...

Replace Hayward Navigator Pro? Or keep repairing it?

I appreciate the response. I guess it's because I haven't used anything but a suction cleaner to this point. But I have seen the Dolphin robot mentioned pretty favorably so maybe that is the best option for replacement.

Replace Hayward Navigator Pro? Or keep repairing it?

So I have a Navigator Pro that is probably at least 10 years old. I've gotten very good at taking it apart and repairing it but over time the outside housing has faded from sun and chemicals etc. It still does a decent job cleaning when my filters are clean and it's zipping around the pool. So I...

    High Calcium

If I'm remembering correctly, the CH previously was close to 1000ppm. If the CH is only at 100ppm after the fill, should I raise it to the 250ppm level?

    High Calcium

I just tested my fill water: pH = 7.4 TA = 90 CH = 110 Sounds like there is no need to bring up the calcium levels.

    High Calcium

Greetings, It's been 6 years since I last drained my pool and since I was having my tile cleaned and replacing my filters, it seemed like a good time to do a drain/fill. My question is about calcium levels. My calcium levels have been way high for several years. I know when I last...

Backyard flooded sending some dirt into pool

Update: So I spent the day running the pump and cleaning the filters multiple times. Cleaned the filters 3 times. First few there was a lot of dirt that washed out of the filters and it only took 90 minute for the pressure to go up 10 psi. The water at this point is better but pretty cloudy...

Backyard flooded sending some dirt into pool

Had a huge thunderstorm dump a huge amount of rain that flooded the backyard a bit causing dirt to get washed into the pool. I'll have to get a better look tomorrow but it was enough that the entire pool water is brownish and cannot see through at all. I have a Hayward cartridge filter system...

    TA is low

It's just me being new to this whole thing. I'll try getting the pH settled a little higher and see what happens. Thanks

    TA is low

Hi, I'm baaaack.... So when I started this thread my TA was at 40. I got a 12lb bag of baking soda from Costco. Added the whole thing over a few days and brought the TA back up to around 100. But here we are a month later and when I checked my TA today it's at 60. I am adding muriatic acid...

I just left Leslie's pool store - Very misinformed employee

Last week I went into my nearby Leslie's to see if I could get some DPD R-0870 powder for my Taylor K-2006 test kit. I had seen it on their website and thought they mght have it in the store. Wrong! The guy I talked to said "are you sure you need a powder to check your chlorine?". He'd never...

    TA is low

Since taking over my own pool care 3 months ago things have been mostly good. I've been focused on keeping the FC and PH balanced with liquid chlorine and muriatic acid. I decide to check the TA and CH today. The TA came in low at 40... it had been around 100 when I last checked it. So I'm...

    New pool owner learning fast

Thanks. The acid I'm using I picked up at Home Depot. It's the Kem-Tek pool one http://www.kem-tek.com/kemtek_product/pool-muriatic-acid/ and I looked at the box again, it's actually 14.5%. So it's not the stronger "contractor strength" one that Kem-Tek makes also. Anyway, I'll keep an eye on...

    Hayward Navigator driving me crazy

ok, Thanks One more question... as I've been adding liquid chlorine over the past two weeks I've had to add muriatic acid to keep the pH down. Everytime I add chlorine, let it bring the FC level back to my target, then the pH is a little high like 8.0 and I have to add acid to bring it back...

Well, I added the rest of the calcium chloride I had and it brought the CH up to 220. So, I guess I should probably add a little bit more? Thanks

    Hayward Navigator driving me crazy

I inherited a navigator and I've replaced quite a few parts on mine (purchased from Amazon), including the a-frame, turbine kit, pod shoes, & the gear box. As you know there are quite a few parts. Typically, if it isn't steering, they would usually say to replace the gear box but it sounds like...

    Hayward Clamp?

I've purchased several Hayward parts from Amazon at a much better price than anywhere local. On the filter, is it a model C2020? If so, according to this parts list : http://www.ereplacementparts.com/hayward-c2020-swim-clear-cartridge-filter-parts-c-146775_187983_146934.html It would be part...

SWG questions - install on sunny side of house

Greetings... I'm a new pool owner just bought our house with a 4 yr old pool in August. I've just started taking over my own maintenance so I haven't been through a summer yet but I'm thinking maybe sooner than later we might want to convert to salt. The Circupool models seem to have a pretty...

    New pool owner learning fast

Hi all, So I've got my pool refilled, pump and filter are running and I've added some liquid chlorine to the water. Filter cartidges are new, pressure at a steady 10. It's amazing how light the new ones were compare to the old ones. Even after they dried out the old ones were much heavier with...

Hi, sorry for not getting back right away. Yes, I think you were right. Ultimately, I repeated the test with 1 part pool water and 3 parts tap water. Then did the test and multiplied by 4. Yikes! CYA seemed to be close to 400.... I'm not sure how they didn't have problems last summer with things...

    New pool owner learning fast

Greetings, We purchased our home back in August and it has a pool which is about 3 yrs old. The previous owners had a pool service so we continued with them. Things had been ok until about a month ago when I started questioning how our pool was being maintained. About 3-4 weeks ago I noticed...
