Need help with cleaning pool algae off pool floor.

I have a taylor test kit. Chrlorine usually sits about 3ppm PH 7.2 CYA 100 (I added way too much at the beginning of the year and have slowly been replacing water to get this down) Calcium level is in the 250-500 ppm area by my test strips but don't have an accurate way to measure this...

Need help with cleaning pool algae off pool floor.

I've been working on treating a neglected pool this year. Hit the pool with a power vacuum and removed a lot of algae but this is what I'm left with a week later after it cleared up. Curious if I should just vacuum to waste or net or what you guys would recommend. Kinda in over my head.

Looking for sand/glass/etc recommendations for a hayward 24 inch filter.

Just read through that. That's kind of why I'm asking. Seems like there is a lot of issues when people change out their media in their filter. Just trying to avoid these pitfalls hence the thread.

Looking for sand/glass/etc recommendations for a hayward 24 inch filter.

Hey I drained my filter thinking I had a broken lateral because a little bit of sand kept getting into my pool. I figured I had a cracked lateral. This was not the case. Looking to get some new media for the filter and originally I was going to go with glass but seems like the more research...

Just some reviews I've read on amazon where it's failed after a year or so.

Looking to try and make pool life easier.

I currently have a bromine pool (strange I know) but started looking into just adding chlorine tablets to save on cost because from my understanding it alright to do this since you're doing the same thing when you shock the pool. Chlorine converts to bromine. Feel free to correct me if I'm...

Anyone have experience with the Riptide XL?

Hey I purchase a dolphin robot about 5 years ago and tried it out and it was honestly terrible. Mostly just kicked up everything it was suppose to suck up and I have a weird shaped pool so it wasn't good at hitting a lot of the spots. Fast forward to this year and I'm going to have quite a bit...

Trying to pull an old pool cover off to replace it for winter

Hey guys and gals... Basically have a tarp like cover that sustained some holes in it over the winter to where if I try to throw a sump pump on the pool the pool water fills back onto the cover and I can never fully drain the cover to pull it to replace it. Getting ready to swap it for a new...

Looking for a solid but bargain pool cover for winter

Hey I've had my house for a few years and I always have bought the "10 year" covers and know they really only last for the year because twice I've tried to use them with a lot of headache come the next year when I go to open the pool with the cover having a lot of holes. Basically just looking...

Question on leaks around return jets and gasket placement.

What type of gaskets should I use? I've heard of both cork type and rubber. As far as which goes where I get different answers every time I ask someone at the local pool store. I keep trying to get a hold of one of their service guys with no luck.

Question on leaks around return jets and gasket placement.

Hey I recently made a thread where I feared a huge bill tearing up concrete to fix plumbing lines with my pool due to a leak when the pump was running. Had a leak detection company come by and look at the problem. They found a problem around a return jet I had previously worked on at the end...

***Please help. Diagnosing underground leak. Fear $10k+ repair.***

The be line? I have a little site glass on my multi port and no water is flowing through it. Their ads show them using sonar equipment over concrete by a pool so I assume so. I'll double check with them before they come.

***Please help. Diagnosing underground leak. Fear $10k+ repair.***

It's hard piped to the front of my house by my driveway/street gutter. There is a tiny chance some is leaking out there but nothing noticeable. I just replaced the multiport last year. There is a section of concrete that looks like it has been torn out and repaired before leading to one of...

***Please help. Diagnosing underground leak. Fear $10k+ repair.***

Hey I've had my pool/home a few years. Opened it up this year just fine. No leaks or issues. About a month into running everything I started to notice I would wake up and my pool had pumped below the skimmer thus running my pump dry (my main drain at the bottom was eliminated by the previous...

Closing pool. Replacing return jet face plate. Help!

I like the way you think. Beer makes any job better. Might work then. Although I'm not sure it will be fun I bet I can make it work come spring. Any idea if a drill will take damage being underwater? My drill is double insulated like most tools so I won't get shocked. I just don't want to...

Closing pool. Replacing return jet face plate. Help!

Yeah that was my first thought...well what I would recommend to most people. It's basically just a little bigger than a sheet rock screw. I don't think they make bits or easy outs that small and with the time clock I'm on it's not likely an option. The good news is I haven't seen any...

Closing pool. Replacing return jet face plate. Help!

That's the thing, it's a pretty small screw diameter wise. I would have a hard time even getting the drill bit to line up if I had perfect working conditions. I would be hanging over the pool and would have to drain it below the return jet which is tough because the previous owner got rid of...

Closing pool. Replacing return jet face plate. Help!

Yeah I used some channel locks to get the one. The other is dug in there just barely anything to grab once you get behind the liner. I just blew out the lines again with 3 screws in. It seems to be holding well enough. I'm going to watch for bubbles for a bit. The first year I lived...

Closing pool. Replacing return jet face plate. Help!

Well figured out the problem. Two of the screws had the head break off. I was able to get one out pretty easily. The other might prove to be a little bit more of a pain in the ***.

Closing pool. Replacing return jet face plate. Help!

Yeah there were 4 in there before. They all went back in fine last time as well. Just two were missing. I'm going to pull the cover and see if something just isnt lining up.

Closing pool. Replacing return jet face plate. Help!

Hey Have this style of face plate cover. I replaced this last year due to a crack. Same problem again this year. Anyway can't get the screws to go back in. It was missing two screws and those are the ones I can't get to go in with new screws. Tried using a hammer and a screw driver with...
