So right now FC is at 14, which was alot higher than I expected since i've been losing 5-8 ppm of FC per 12-18 hours the last 4 days. so i expected 7 or 8. cc is .5 maybe we are leveling off here

It went up to around 22 when i added what would usually raise it to 17. This morning it was 20, so ill see what it looks like at the end of the day. I have already replaced about 1/3 of the water so that is helping im sure too -

got it... so the high PH plus the complete degradation of CYA was the main clue combined with the rapid conversion of FC to CC. So if i had 80, then i could have up to 24ppm of ammonia (going to dig up my ammonia fish tank tester) It it takes 30ppm of FC to get rid of 3 PPM of ammonia.... i...

I thought that CYA's purpose was mainly to protect chlorine from being burned off from sun. Just because i want to learn whats going on being the scenes, how does the high CC combined with zero CYA equal ammonia presence? or maybe put another way, are we saying that CYA helps to prevent amonia...

Thanks, yes - i looked at doing pool krete and it was a little more than i wanted to spend on my hole in the ground. I also looked at doing a sand hardener, but that really wasnt any cheaper.. I think im just gonna bury my head in the sand.....

About to replace the bottom before installing a liner in my inground 16x32. is foam insulation (that you would buy at HD/lowes) a better plan than fixing my sand bottom? or is it more hassle than its worth? I do already have the load of mason sand sitting in my driveway. it was $100 bucks one...
