New liner time, where to order

I think my doughboy 12x24 with expandable (deep end has been dug out so not flat) liner is about done after I am guessing 13 years. Wanting to order a replacement liner that I can install myself with friends help. Just wondering what people recommend for companies to order from. Thanks, Glenn

Draining Pool — Backwash or Pump?

Re: 3 questions oving Forward WIth Newly Filled/Balanced Pool My pool is half your size and I use 3 cups of 8.25 per day on average. I think that is about the price of having a crystal clear pool. On the plus side, that is a fraction of the cost for other types of sanitation that don't work...

I am about to start the process my self.

Re: So you want to add borates to your pool--Why and How If you have zero borates in your pool now, and shoot for 50ppm, then you would need 55lbs of granular. I would order borate strips and test first though, might save yourself some $ and then you know what your levels will be.

    first time test with TF-100

And ph is fine at 7.2, it will probably come up on it's own with splashing and such. Test your chlorine every day, the ph every 3 or 4, and TA weekly. Those shouldn't change much if all you are doing is adding cl to keep that up where it should be, which will be a daily addition.

2 Year Long Pool Pump/Filter Mystery - HELP!

jlo, I know it might seem very overwhelming, but if you follow the instructions on this forum we can get you straightened out in short order. As the poster above said, get one of the recommended test kits and run a full battery of tests and then post them here. That will give us a starting...

Need a testing kit. Test strips are not recommended?

Zindar, This method of pool maintenance requires a good test kit. Strips might be easier, but they are very unreliable. I have the TF-100 kit and love it. Just looking at it will create some anxiety lol, but the instructions are so clear and easy to follow that once you run the tests it will...

omg, I don't know what to do...

I'll third that lol. Plus I will add, I thought my pool water was clear after converting from baquacil last season to this method, but I just added borates to the pool Thursday and WOW, I am amazed at the detail I can see at the bottom of my pool. I am kind of a perfectionist (not quite ocd...

New pool owner.. Want to go BBB but very very nervous.. Help calm my nerves.. :)

Yes, I checked pool math and 106 oz. is what you want if it's 8.25%. Just make sure your chlorine % in pool calculator is the same as it says on the bottle. 6ppm is your upper goal, and don't want to drop below 3ppm. So that is why when you test you try to keep it at the upper limit so over...

    New to TroubleFreePool World!

Gully, I just got this from Amazon this year. Only weak spot appears to the plastic pin that attaches the head to the part that goes into the pole. I figure if that breaks I can find a bolt that will fit and do the job. So far the brush has worked great...

New sand filter on the way

I use the silica sand from local home improvement store (I think they have it mostly for sandblasting), but the #20 and it is a pretty white sand. About $15 for a 100lb bag I think. I have been using it for 2 years with zero issues. Does a great job. Glenn

Bleach listed % or yield % for calculator?

This was brought up in another thread and I thought I would ask it here since I am the curious type. I did a search and didn't find the answer. The jug of bleach that I use lists the % as 8.25, but under the ingredients list is an asterisk that states that the available chlorine is 7.85%. I...

New pool owner... lets get it started owwww! :)

Also, I haven't done a search on here, but not sure if pool calculator accounts for yield in the bleach. What I mean is, I have 8.25 bleach, but if you look at the label under ingredients it states that 7.85 of that 8.25 is available as chlorine. So for my calculations in Pool Math, I use 7.85...

    Raccon poop in pool

If you don't want to kill it, there are people that will come live trap it and take it to a new home way far away in the woods somewhere. Try a pest control place, or critter abatement, etc.

I have never used DE or Flock, or whatever the Flock that is lol. Once all the algae is dead and if your sand filter is the proper size it shouldn't take too long and your CL use goes way down. Will be curious if our theory speeds things up. Baquacil is a non-chlorine system of sanitizing...

New pool owner... lets get it started owwww! :)

If your cya went down as it should with a water change, then that would mean a lower slam level which would save some bleach $$$. Don't want to get it too low lest you just sacrifice Cl to the sun gods, but the amount you are changing with backflush/rinse shouldn't change it too much. Water is...

New pool owner... lets get it started owwww! :)

Looks like you are getting close. You are not having to add too much CL each time. Killing it off is first step, filtering out dead algae carcass is the other lol. Second part is just time and patience. Keep up the good fight, you will be victorious soon.

Just did my first full test

Isn't that test kit as easy as it gets? People kinda freak out when I pull it out and start doing some tests as it can look overwhelming, but the instructions are so clear and easy to follow. I don't know about the Taylor kit, but big thumbs up to TFT for the TF100 kit!!!

    Clueless! New to forum

No need to worry about Borates till you get the pool all sparkly, you take a week to relax and enjoy the new pool and then you can read up on Borates and decide if you want to add that to your water. Here is the section on the forum that covers anything and everything about borates...

Pool is looking better and better. Don't forget to keep an eye on your filter and backflush when your pressure increases 10% from clean. To be honest, I don't follow the 10% lol, when mine is flushed it starts about 11 and I let it get to 15 before I backflush and rinse. There is going to be...

    Thanks to TFP I'm a pool snob.......today!

Pool looks beautiful!!!! That deck does look like it has seen better days lol. Not sure what the expense would be compared to replacing the deck, but pavers would look nice over there and likely never need replaced nor near the maintenance of wood.
