    Testing for Dummies-Need Help

I know it seems like an endless cycle but I promise once you can really slam with cya enough to protect the FC so it can do it's job it will go fairly smooth. Right now you're just toying with it when you have to assassinate & go for the kill. I started from essentially a lake this year and...

I knew I was Pool Stored when...

Cuz he apparently doesn't know what does cause them and in general terms it's pretty much 2 things ( besides the real bacteria answer) 😂😂

    Am I reading chlorine right?

Yes, if you leave it sitting it will turn pink again. Results are during active testing

Chlorine & CYA levels in SWG versus Liquid Chorline

My understanding is that because my swcg is a constant steady production and not a one time spike. I need higher CYA due to my location & to protect my steady FC from UV

    Chlorine puck quantity ?

Most of us here don't do this. I have a swcg so my FC is a steady 8-9 currently.

Draining a pool - why or why not

I don't think there is a one size fits all rule for that. I think for us that have hard water, we have to "exchange" or RO our water eventually because of CH but otherwise I don't see any reason too

    Plaster Etching, staining or BOTH?

To drain get a small utility pump For exchanging you need a hose connected to a small utility pump that can get to an area to drain (most use sewer cleanout but I ran to my laundry room sink). Then you try and keep output & filling equal. If you use a 5 gallon bucket & time how fast it pumps...

Opening my pool and want to do it real nice this time

I had just brought up exchanging if his concern was dumping water so maybe somewhere in there I wasn't clear. For exchanging you need a hose connected to a small utility pump that can get to an area to drain (most use sewer cleanout but I ran to my laundry room sink) so I'm sure I made it more...

CYA dropped, liquid stabilizer, chlorine last longer

Sun is brutal here but it's been a weird weather year so far. We've only hit triple digits a few times so far lol that's why my CYA is riding low at the moment but soon I think we will be back to surface of the sun level

    Plaster Etching, staining or BOTH?

Test your fill water then use to figure out how much water to exchange. See here: https://www.troublefreepool.com/wiki/index.php?title=Draining

Opening my pool and want to do it real nice this time

Could be testing errors happens a lot actually. Best way for Ph is in that color block when fc < 10 I don't clean it often lol like you I stick it right back

Opening my pool and want to do it real nice this time

Worst case just another long hose or 2. I think the exchanging water recommendation is two fold. One to lower CYA to manageable level and IF there are metals in the water it will remove them.

CYA dropped, liquid stabilizer, chlorine last longer

I'm at 60 currently as I wasn't using swcg until a week ago but I will be pushing to 80 soon as our weather stabilizes to normal surface of the sun 😂😂
