New St. Louis Pool * water August 1st!

Re: New St. Louis Pool The water guys should have some experience w/ this. Most of the "junk" in the lines should flush out pretty quick. I wouldn't worry about it, too much. You must be so excited! Awesome pool! BTW, I did not kill your father, but I am prepared to die! I loved that movie...

Re: Under Construction - Absolute DISASTER. Advice apprecia  Definitely speak with the concrete guy to get his expert opinion! PVC plumbing size for small pump/filter combo

Thanks Jblizzle. If I can't find a better solution than the 1.25" union, then I'll just plumb in 1.5" up to it and reduce down to fit it at the pump. Every thing else will be 1.5" to match a Hayward skimmer and return.

PVC plumbing size for small pump/filter combo

I purchased a Hayward vl40t32 pump filter combo for my 18'x48" summer escapes pool. I would like to plumb it in PVC but it didn't come with the appropriate adapter so I am making one to fit. The best option I have is 1.25" union to attach to the suction side of the pump. I am wondering if it...

Rounding the Corner... Install Completed 7/27/13

Re: Rounding the Corner to a New Pool Build I would love to since I've never been to PA. Sure wish I could. I've been watching the saga, and I'm glad to see it coming to a positive conclusion. I'm sure I'm not alone in saying my heart goes out to you and your husband with all that you have been...

    Anchors

I have the brass safety cover anchors pictured in my mind. Is that correct? PB Blaster is my go to for seized up bolts. I've even heard of it being used on stuck tuba tuning slides. Alternately, you might try lightly heating up the anchors with a small propane torch (taking the necessary...

installing elbow on new hayward super pump

Can you place shims between the pump mount and the base plate? I've seen inexpensive plastic cutting boards used as spacer material and mounting plates for chem pumps. They are pretty easy to work into customized shapes with hand tools.

Need grading advice for an above ground pool!

Under the pool? I may be misreading. Could that become a potential problem or will the soil distribute the weight enough to prevent collapsing the pipe?

    Strange Sound Coming from "deck"

I think there was a cicada brood in '96 (17 year life cycle), so I think it's a possibility. I would rule out something electrical prior to digging. May also want to have a Priest handy to exorcise the demon!?

Big dips in sand around base of pool

What does the installer have to say, now? It sounds like his installation needs some attention(sooner rather than later). The cove is important as it prevents the liner from contacting the base of the pool and possibly slipping under in a wash-out, as well as distributing the water weight.

    Yellow well water?

Wow! What a difference. Did anything settle out to the bottom of the bucket? The reason we ask is if it had been iron making the water yellow then it would have been oxidized and precipitated leaving a layer on the bottom of the bucket. Much better to have that happen in the bucket rather than...

    Yellow well water?

I would fill a white five gallon bucket with well water, add .5 tsp of 8.25% bleach, stir, and give it about 30 minutes. This should give you about 10ppm and show you what will happen in your pool when you shock.

    How strong are Intex walls?

We have a pro series with the metal legs and pretty much all of us push off of the sides all the time (I'm not a small guy). Storage of corrosive chemicals

As long as you get some airflow it should be fine. That being said I had a jug in my garage (no windows, closed door most of the time) and things not even close to it started to get surface rust. Successful BBB maintenance for 2 years, now problems.

You have a conditioner for the well water. Is that a water softener? If so, the next time you fill you may want to do it in stages and regenerate between stages based on the water quality before the softener and the softener capacity. The mineral bed can be exhausted rather quickly when filling...
