Shocking: Why bleach and not chlorine sticks

It may be here somewhere, but can someone explain why it is best to use bleach instead of chlorine tabs to shock or increase FC in a SWG pool? How much bleach and what kind? In understand the SWG's role in slowly raising or maintaining FC, but how does bleach work over chlorine tabs when one...

Hayward AquaRite Automation with Jandy Aqualink RS8

I only realized this with my recent problem of low salt readings in the morning on pump start-up. I had a bad flow switch which was keeping the SWG on and calculating all night, resulting in low averages the following morning. Appears this has been my set-up for almost 10 years - there is no...

I could be wrong, but if the flow switch detects no flow from the pump being off, doesn't the SWG go into a pause mode and stop calculating as well as generating? It will still have power light on , but the No Flow light would be lit.

Time for a new PC Board?

I starting getting No flow light when there was obvious flow. It was sporadic over a few days, and seemed to resolve so I moved on to other potential causes. After a cell replacement, the issue of very low salt level in the morning continued. I spoke to finally Goldline tech support who said...

Time for a new PC Board?

PROBLEM SOLVED The flow switch was bad. It was evidently staying ON (flow) when pump was timed off, so SWG was calculating all night and in the morning on pump start up the salt averages were incorrectly displayed until the day progressed and the correct readings climbed Replaced switch and...

Time for a new PC Board?

Since opening this year have had sporadic issues - no flow at times and a low salt reading at morning start-up and then progressively closer to actual salt level as the day goes on but never correct. Unit is 8+ years - Mineral Springs. Replaced the cell last night (T-15), immediately on power...

    Mineral Springs SWG Issues

A follow up - ordered a new Flow Sensor and by the time it arrived, problem seems to have abated. Will wait until occurs and again and swap out with new one. The current issue is that the unit is still showing a wide variance of salt readings over the last several weeks. It will show as low...

    Mineral Springs SWG Issues

Since opening this summer, have had several gremlins in my Mineral Springs (Goldline) SWG unit (8+ years old). The cell is original, but was just cleaned and appeared fine at pool opening earlier this month. A week or so ago, got a NO FLOW light on. A day or so later it goes back off and...
