    Slam/DE question

I added DE per forum recommendation, and within a few hours pressure went from 17 psi to 30 psi. I back flushed. My question is: does the DE stay in sand? Or does it have to be replaced?

    Debris and seams

Thank you for your information. Do you think it’s worth putting the diatomaceous earth in the sand filter to help with filtration?

    Debris and seams

When you vacuum, I don’t think you’re really picking it up. it just disappears for a while and then settles back to the seams. I will see if I can snap a picture tonight.

    Debris and seams

Been slamming pool. Its now clear and passes both chemical tests, brush 2-4 times a day. A couple hours after brushing, there again is debris on the seams. Is this dead algea? Which means i still have live algae on the vinyl liner? I have a sand filter.

    Cya and slam

I started my slam yesterday and my CYA was 20. I added a little bit of dry chemical to it, but wondered if I needed to monitor it until it reaches 30?

debri collects along seams in shallow end

I was surprised when i tested the water tonight. No Cl. I replaced my electronic boards late last season for my Hayward with those after market boards. Been troubling since. Says its generating, but says low salt. I bought an electronic tester, and its running 3200. confirmed by dip test as...

    Hayward aqua-rite

yes when turn off/on a few times im in the -3400-3500 range

    Hayward aqua-rite

Because its not high. Only the hayward says its high. test strips and 2 pool stores confirm low. Here is my main question: does the hayward read salt, or TDS? If I have borax in pool, isn't it reading that along with phosphates?

    Hayward aqua-rite

I just added a bag of salt. Will try in the morning.

    Hayward aqua-rite

I hate to bring this up again, but despite trying 2 boards, I still am getting a much higher reading on the salt than is actually in pool. I've taken samples to 2 diff pool stores, and tried some steps, reading 27--2800. My hayward keeps telling me 3300-3500. Instant reading about the same...

    Hayward aqua-rite

figured out the odd numbers. it was reading in PPT, just like adjusting other things by clicking up to super chlorinate and back changed 4.2 to 4200

    Hayward aqua-rite

is it most likely the cell, or the board?
  22. P

    Hayward aqua-rite

board with the high reading is hayward. board I just put in was generic
  23. P

    Hayward aqua-rite

generic cell. I had another mother board. I put it in just now. After changing to t15, its says salt level is 4.. just 4, and instant salinity is -4.2....its on US measurements, as the temp says 76. the rest of t he numbers seem spot on.
  24. P

    Hayward aqua-rite

first test it said -3600. after turning off for a few mins and back on, and checking it was- 4300 once and -4200 once.
  25. P

    Hayward aqua-rite

after turning it off a few times, waiting a few mins, back on, instant salt wants to jump back to 4300 and 4200, rest of the numbers basically the same
  26. P

    Hayward aqua-rite

-3600, 82,25.1,6.83,95...the reason I ask about salt/phosphates: If I add up salt plus phosphate from pool store reading=4100, which is what my hayward likes to display
  27. P

    Hayward aqua-rite

It went right back to 4100 again today. Hayward service never did call back. Does it read just salt? Lets say your phosphate is high, is it actually adding both of these dissolved solids?
  28. P

    Hayward aqua-rite

Thanks. That's a different technique. So I started at 4100. inst salt said 3600. next readings were 82, 25.5, 7.07 and 95p. box is set for t-15. after doing this it now says 3600,
