I had to put at least 1 pic of the finished pool.

The minimum on the side is 4 feet, unless there are other easements, etc. I put the pool at the minimum of 4 feet to maximize the rest of my yard.

I just wanted to give an update on my pool. I stopped posting after the forum software update because it will not allow me to upload pictures anymore. I am not willing to host them myself. As an aside, I think it is very shortsighted of the owners of this forum to require people to host their...

Check Out My Design! - Any Gunite Guestimates

My pool is bigger than yours (130 ft perimeter, 707 sq ft, 8.5 ft deep), does not have a spa, does have a 8x12 tanning shelf, does not have the bar area or raised bond beam. My pool took 33 yards.

Its 8.5-9 ft deep. I had a diving board on my last pool and we took it out and built a platform like this. I think it is safer since there is no spring to it, but it still is fun to jump from.

So the deck is going in Monday. I finally decided to go with acrylic lace. This post is to summarize the decision process. I considered Artistic Pavers, Acrylic Lace, and Travertine. Cost: I surprised me quite a bit a relatively expensive the concrete with acrylic lace deck is. It is only...

The pool is starting to progress again. The deck goes in on Monday, so I have been working on the raised jumping platform this week. 20140124_082632.jpg[/attachment:134fzyhj] 20140124_082739.jpg[/attachment:134fzyhj]...

    DIY pool design - Phoenix

If you are going to the expense of automation, then you can program it to turn the Jandy valves and change pump speeds automatically when switching between water feature mode and filter mode. So one VS pump will do. All the VS pumps that I have seen are rated pretty high, like around 3HP. In...

    DIY pool design - Phoenix

Your design looks nice. It appears from the picture of your yard and the layout diagram that the new pool is going to overlap the old pool location? I am not sure what the implications are for that as far as cost. If you were going to put the new pool in a completely new location then the...

Sorry I don't know. The plumbers painted it after install and it perfectly matches the Pentair equipment. I wish I was there to see them paint it cause there is no overspray or anything. I am assuming they taped off the values and other parts to make it that clean.

This platform is more like a raised bond beam in that it is flush with the beam and will be tiled all the way up. I considered having it done as part of the gunite, but the platform is 3 levels and 4x6 ft so I decided to do it out of block instead.

I hope it is fine because I have seen examples on the internet of bond beam repair, or adding raised bond beams where they drilled into the beam and epoxied rebar in. Also, the gunite guys made a couple of holes in the bond beam so I can put in sleeves later. So based on that I think it is OK...

I feel like I am talking to myself a little, but I hope the things I am posting will be useful to someone in the future. I have learned a lot just reading and searching on the forum. So what I decided to do for the raised platform area was drill some holes into the bond beam and epoxy rebar...

These pictures show the difference of where the aerator exits depending on the deck material. For a poured concrete deck, the aerator exits from the side of the deck. Here are some things I have learned so far that may be helpful if others are searching for answers. 1. Don't assume your yard is level. Mine slopes more than a foot from the patio to the fence. I had planned on making my pool deck even with the patio, but when the excavators came out they...
