    Hot tub water balance trouble

My OP said I use TFP's test kit. We do daily tests with the small chlorine and pH kit in there and then weekly tests for TA, FC, & CC. I only did CYA testing until we hit 40. We actually did realize the small kit we bought at Leslie's to tide us over until the TFP kit came was defective. I had...

    Hot tub water balance trouble

Welllll...the pool is new too! We had a pool at our previous house for many years, so we're pretty good at taking care of pools. What we didn't realize when we built this pool is that we do not have a clean out and we made the patio huge so we don't have much space to drain water ion back that...

    Hot tub water balance trouble

I wish it would kill Bermuda grass, but alas, that stuff grows everywhere I don't want it and nowhere I do want it. I'm not so worried about killing the fruit trees as I am about having contaminated citrus fruit.

    Hot tub water balance trouble

I was under the impression from various other posts on this forum that a large pool wouldn't be affected much by the relatively small amount of hot tub water as long as both are sanitized the same way (chlorine to chlorine or bromine to bromine). Our hot tub is only 270 gallons vs. a 13k gallon...

    Hot tub water balance trouble

So every day even if we don't use it we should be adding chlorine? I guess we figured the cover would keep the chlorine from dissipating so quickly. Perhaps we just need to reevaluate our perception. Or get a floater. I have read that post. Did not do a startup purge though. Figured we'd see...

    Hot tub water balance trouble

I have. I'd have to go look at my notes, but last time I tested it was at 40 I think. We've only had the tub for a month. We do have liquid chlorine too but that depleted super fast. I wonder if it is the ozone generator just ripping through the chlorine. I don't think there's a way to turn it off.

I believe that would void the warranty.

    Hot tub water balance trouble

We have a new Viking Royale ETS tub and are having issues keeping the water balanced. We also have a 13k gal pebble pool which we have no trouble keeping balanced using TFP's test kit and methods. But this hot tub has got us scratching our heads. We can't seem to keep the chlorine level up. Even...

    TF100 test instructions error

Ditto. I also prefer to just divide by 2. 8-)

Ok, it seems the swg isn't happy afterall. It's flashing low salt again. I got the test kit yesterday and ran all the tests. The salt test strips measured at just barely 3400 ppm. That should be ideal and yet, it is flashing low salt. So, I guess I'll add another bag? Also, here are the other...

    Pentair IC40

Ok, thanks. I guess I was going for the 200 ppm over the ideal (3400 ppm in the manual) as stated in the Pool School SWG section. Since it's brand new, I hope the cell will last us a few years. Luckily, between the shops and our tiny home test kit, chlorine and pH levels were all consistent...

    Pentair IC40

Ok. Apparently I can't even get consistent salt readings. I took a water sample to Leslie's and to a local shop. I got 3200 ppm from Leslie's and 3700 ppm from the local shop. They both use digital meters but different types. Should I just wait until I get the salt test strips I ordered? The...

    Pentair IC40

Thanks! Have a test kit on order. Meanwhile relying on pool store testing. Unfortunately, I'm getting inconsistent CYA readings from them (80, 50, 38), so I think I'll wait until the TF-100 arrives before I worry about CYA levels. Chlorine level is hovering around 4-5. We did dump a bunch of...

Split from post535126.html#p535126 Butterfly Uh oh. We just had one of these installed when we remodeled the pool 2 months ago. I've been reading this site as we are doing the startup now. I feel stupid for asking this, but how do you turn it off completely? I haven't been able to figure...
