Filter issue - sand bars in pool

Thanks, I'll work on it this weekend when I can get the parts. I've turned the filter off for now and with the hotter temps am likely going to have an algae bloom before its fixed. Is it better to run the filter with sand coming into the pool (on and off) or to just leave filter off and deal...

Filter issue - sand bars in pool

Hi all, Thanks for your advice. I have a 10 yo pool with a SWG. When I opened the pool in the spring - mid April i noticed some fliter sand at the bottom and vacuumed it up without issue. Last week much more sand appeared in the bottom of the pool under each of the 3 jets. I'm assuming based on...

    Water chemistry

Hi there, I've been struggling to get my CWG to work and will hopefully fix it this weekend. My FC is 1.5. CYA - 30 and PH - 7.5. Do you recommend that I first move my CYA up to 60, before adding some Chlorine (to FC=4) to the pool or the reverse? Thanks, T

First time pool opening - how to increase CL levels with SWG

Hi there, I just opened my pool for the first time and tested the water using a TF100 kit. Test results are: CL - 1.5 CYA - 50 PH - 7.6 Do I use bleach to increase the CL level or liquid chlorine instead? I have a SWG which may not be building the CL level enough. The weather is also very cool...

To close the loop, I was able to find and solve the problem. The heaters water pressure switch had been removed for the winter and just needed to be reattached. Pictures are attached if anyone encounters this problem. Thanks for help with this. T

First time opening - heater leaking water

Hi there, This is my first opening of my pool after using a pool company for the past 5 years. I've been able to get everything ready except for the pool heater - hayward H250. Without preparing the heater, I tried running the pool pump and there is water flowing out of the heater onto the pad...

    Advice on next steps

I'm in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I started SLAmming a few days ago - moved the FC level to 16 with a CYA of 40 however the improvement has been really small. The water color has gone from a greener color to emerald bluey green. I'll post a pic when I get home. Im thinking that it may be a filter...

    Advice on next steps

I didnt maintain it as was out of country but did test it before I left and levels were similar. I'e added some Muriatic acid to reduce the PH. Im curious, why would a lower PH level help clear the water.....? Thanks,

    Advice on next steps

Hi folks, My pool pump broke a few days ago and I was only able to replace it yesterday. It was 3 days down and we have had a few rain storms and lots of heat. The pool water had turned a darker gray color before the new pump was installed. I vacuumed the floor and sides as soon as the pump...

Started SLAMming but doesnt appear to be working

Hi everyone, Thanks for reading this. After extreme heat last weekend my pool stared to become cloudy and with testing I discovered very low FC levels. I tried increasing the level but it hasn't helped. I started slamming on Wednesday night. This morning I read the following (after trying to get...

    Low PH and filter question

Hi everyone, After a few weeks of a sparkling pool we had some heavy rains over the last few days which resulted in the water turning slightly hazy and a decent amount of sand in the bottom of the pool. I vacuumed the floor yesterday and the sand has returned. How do I improve the performance...

    Murky water

Before this, my FC was as low as 4 only and I was moving it to 5 each time. Its been really hot here so I'm guessing the heat played a part.
